subutex muscle spasms?

subutex muscle spasms?

I was curious to hear if anyone else has had to same problems w/ suboxone/subutex treatment that I have.  I was on hydrocodones for over 6 years (got tup to 200-225mg/day) before I visited an addiction psychiatrist to get off of it.  He first gave me suboxone and it made me violently ill--vomiting, dizziness, lightheadedness. etc.  So, he said that perhaps I was having a bad reaction to the naloxone and put me on
Subutex instead.  The first night I took it, I felt wonderful, but at 2am, I woke up w/ major musle spasms and they  lasted throughout the day.  They feel like sharp, shooting pains in my butt, hips, shoulders, etc. and I can hardly move around (but lying down is worse).  I calld him about this and he prescribed Baclofen to help w/ the muscle spasms.  He said that they were jsut a side effect of hte Subutex.  I'm freakin' miserable, though and hte baclofen jsut knocks me out so I can't take it while at work or if I need to do anything.  I don't think I can continue to take this if these are not going to pass.  Has anyone else had these spasms from Subutex?  If so, did they go away after a few days on the drug or what did you do?  Please let me know about your experience!

how long were you off the hydro before you took the sub?

Taking the suboxone after the hydro's were probably precipitated withdrawals, but when he switched you to subutex, the hydro's were probably out of your system by then. You should wait at a minimum of 12 but safely 24 hours between hydro and suboxone/ subutex. I don't know why your having spasms now, and I know muscle relaxers aren't worth a darn, but I would give it a few days and see if it goes away. I'm on suboxone now, and experience alot of joint pain daily. That could be because my job is very physical or maybe suboxone related; who knows? I know I take 2 ibuprofen at night and it helps with that, but like I said, give it some time and if it continues, certainly see your doctor again. Good luck!

I have been on subuxone 24mg for the past 5 years on and off. Mostly on..The only time i ever experienced spasams or pain was if i had been using any type of narcotics 24hours or less prior to taking the sub. I have been on subutex as well and never had any problems. Just give it a little more time< I do have some friends that got stomach cramps and some joint pain from the nalaxone but it went away after a couple of weeks. Good luck
