Day one eeek

Im 25 years old and Ive been taking vicodin or percocets for about two and a half years for rls and fibromyalgia. I live with my family and well its embarassing to admit to them that the pills have become a problem. And the worse thing about WD for me is that Im the single mom of a two year old angel and shes always with me. I dont want her to see me go thru this but I dont want to be on the meds anymore either. Help!

Well, here's the thing: Tramadol will help the pain and it's a drug that is "less likely to create an addiction".   IF you stay at prescribed doses and have someone hold them for you and hand them out, you could be okay. Just my opinion but I think if you stay at 4 or less per day you may be okay. The problem is they work a little differently and folks tend to take too much at a time and everyday.  Talk with your doctor about it...They will cause seizures at high doses.

Well that just totally ***** bc even if you get a med and take it rite you still become addicted  dependant. I really need a pain med bc of health problems but I dont want one thats addictive and like I said I cant take anti inflammatories. Any ideas?

Oh yea! I talked with a guy that was taking them like candy because he said it took more to make up for the painkillers. He started passing out and having seizures on the stuff. I mean what are these people suppose to do, live in pain. It seems like every option turns into some other issue. You think with all the technology we could figure out a safer way to help people.

That's right Baker!   Tramadol is very addicting. It contains a synthetic opiate (made in a lab) as well as an antidepressant.  It tends to get over used when prescribed and I think that's because it takes almost an hour to begin working.

I think it works well for muscular problems but, again,it's easy to take too much. Being an addict, I'd stay away from it.

Don't try tramadol.. Read up about it. Highly addictive and wds are supposed to be brutal. I was never on it but everything I've read sounds horrific. I won't be the only one here to tell ya that either. Go read some of the other threads about tram, you'll see.

Yeah fibromyalgia is no fun and its only one of my many health problems. My plan is once all this is out of my system to maybe try trammadol. I hear its non addictive and its also a break thru med. I cant take anti inflammatories such as ibueprophen bc I have a bleeding disorder. So really the trammadol and cymbalta are my only options.

Hope you're feeling a bit better.  I'm tapering down from very high doses of a couple of things.  I'm a pain management patient and decided for different reasons that I want to be off these medications to see where my pain really is.

I've been on the pain meds for RSD that developed after nine surgeries on my hand.  But I do have fibromyalgia as well and know that it can be very painful and often debilitating.  What's your plan for when you come off the medication?  It's possible, probably even likely, that your pain level will get really bad, though I'm told it's temporary and your body will sort of reset it's pain level to where the pain really is.

My own personal goal is to get by on mostly OTC medications and only use the narcotics for extreme pain or after a surgery.  I don't like being on them 24/7.

Best of luck.

Well I guess he hasn't learned to be quite a man yet in life, because if he was he would realize that's no way to treat his little girls mother. There still has to be that mutual respect between each other when there is a wonderful little being involved. He most likely cannot see past certain insecurities in his own life and that's why he points out other peoples so called short comings. He shouldn't be taking your inventory when I'm sure he probably has his own to worry about, as we all do. Stick to your family for support right now and keep the stressful chaos to the minimum until your through this, because it alone is stressful enough. I think your doing great considering the circumstances.

Lol hospitals are like a home away from home for me I have so many med problems. I think the worst part of this is that the father of my baby who has been my bf for like 8 years recently moved out and has almost nothing to do with our daughter and always puts me down with the pill addiction instead of trying to help. Not to mention he seems to always bail on me when I need him the most. I havent seen him for days now. It bums me to the max in times like these bc I have always been there for him, no matter the problem.

Yea, that's for sure. I wish I had my first detox experience on tape. I was trying to con the nurses into letting me use those big tubs they have at hospitals, because I was to tired to stand up in the shower. They all got a crack out of that, but little did they know I was serious. Lol They all got together and made a poster cartoon of me laying in one as a gift for making them laugh every night. I was hurting though so I'm sure I was a bit slap happy!

I'm in Kansas City, so I'm out of luck, or I would take you up on that for sure. Have you tried taking a hot shower yet? It will help relax your muscles and give you a break. You might even get a little nap in afterwards.

HI by now your probably in acute withdrawals ......try and stay calm your body is going to act up to rid itself of the poison.....my favorite therapy is a nice hot bath.....it will realeave most of the symptoms...remember this is 1/3 physical and 2 /3 mental be ready to fight on both fronts
force fluids like gatoraid it has electrolytes in it to replenish what your loosing ....eat light meals but try to hold down something and imodium will help with the bathroom issues ...I truly believe this is a battle one or lost in ones own mind so the best thing you can do is bring a postive attitude to the table.....as for sleep most of us dont get any so if you can rent a few movies to stay bizzy at night it will take your mind off how bad you feel......just know you can do this
if you believe in God I found prayer to be helpful in a few days this will be behind you and you wont be chained to a pill bottle any more hang in there keep posting we all want to see you get better good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

Sometimes we just don't look at the big picture. It's not that it means you or any of us were week, it's just that we are caught up in the moment. It's almost like you go into survival mode and only think about yourself. Believe me, I felt the same way, but when something gets ahold of you like these pills do, you don't realize it till it's to late. Then you become overwhelmed, scared, embarrassed, and all these emotions flood in. I think if you feel up to it you should hit that concert. Just make sure you have a ride to leave early if you end up crashing early. I know listening to music helps me so that sounds like a great idea!

Thanks im trying but im sure I wont be positive the whole time. Youre a really great mentor figure tho so it helps knowing I have someone such as yourself to turn to when it gets ruff. I hope you had a great time at the softball games. Im thinking about going to a concert tomorrow but only time will tell if I feel upto it. Havent been to one in ages bc all my extra money went on ths pills. I cant believe I was ever weak enough to become addicted to something. I always hated drugs growing up and seeing what they did to people

Well we wouldnt learn if not thru trial and error. Life is a test of endurance and even if we lived it wrong or messed up a little along the way theres always if we are lucky. Today
Is a gift and thats why its called the present so im gonna attempt to enjoy this gift no matter how crappy I feel. I just dread the restlessness tonight. Anyone wanna take my place? Just for a couple days? Pleeeeaaase? Lol

You need to get up and move around as much as possible. Soon you will feel like laying down and never getting up. Go for short walks with your child, clean, just move! The more you move, the easier your withdrawal will be. The more you sit around, the more depressed and sick you will become. Drink A LOT of water, this will help to flush your system. Good luck.
