tapering

Good morning all.
Just some background of what I've done. A week ago, I was on 10 oxycontin=100mg per day.  As well as 10endocet= 50mg per day.
3 days ago, I was at 6 of each. Total of 12....  2 days ago I was at 6 of each.Total of 12...
Yesterday I had 3oxycontin = 30mg and 5 endocet=25mg.
Now, today I hope to stick at yesterdays amount.  Thing is, other than moments of severe depression (probably due to my wife of 30 years leaving with my two young sons the day after xmas), I feel pretty good.
Have I reduced too quickly? If I stick at yesterdays amount (8), will things start to catch up?  I'd like to try and stick at this 3 & 5 combination until I feel normal with that, then continue tapering.  Guess what I'm asking is, at this reduced amount, and not feeling to bad at the moment, is my body still full of the larger amount and will eventually start complaining to me?   Thanks, Rob

I was able to taper successfully. Keep it up..if you aren't having too bad of symptoms..keep going..when you finish all the pills you will have wd's , but maybe not as bad....either way..day 1(no pills at all) you will experience wds for 3-5. But it is better  stopping from a smaller dose than a larger dose. Just pretend you hav ethe flu and treat it accordingly. Hot baths for the rls, aches and pains, immodium )if you get diarrhea), OTC pain relievers, try to eat well, drinlk LOTS of fluids, take a multi itamin.

Good Luck...i know YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Have you tried tapering before?  The reason I ask is because in my experience, tapering was like a merry-go round that always led me back to the same amount.  I am not doubting you or your intentions.

Hi and welcome,

Your body will tell you if you tapered too quickly. It sounds like you have adjusted pretty well and you sound strong and intent on making this work. Avisg is pretty good with taper schedules, she may be able to give you more info.

Good luck!

Rob,
We welcome you and are here for you. When you go CT let me know what I can do to help you be strong through the process. Taper didn't work for me but does for a lot of people. You have to do what gives you the strenght and control to make this work.
