the amino acids and using

History: back surgery 15 years ago. No problem quitting vicodin. For 10 years had maybe 3 prescriptions.  Then 5 years ago had a friend who had an endless supply. He also had methadone. To make a predictable story short, I have been trying to quit for about a year. Tried suboxome which I found out was 50 times stronger than vicodin (and people wonder why they can't quit that???). I am now a big believer in the Amino Acid therapy and Dr. Gant as well as the Thomas recipe (I combine both).  I work in a creative field and can't seem to take enough time off to completely quit. So, after a year of vitamins and minerals and stopping for maybe 5 days at a time (I relapse due to a need to work without the discomfort, pleasure, and back pain). My question is this (and please do not answer unless you have information) -

Question: If you are using opioids as well as the Amino Acid therapy, is the Amino Acid therapy working? Or is it working as effectively if you were not still using opioids?  Now, I understand best case scenario would be to stop taking any meds while cleansing but that seems to not be in the cards for another few months.  I have found the symptoms of withdrawal to be much less since rebuilding my body with these supplements (that may be answering my question right there with a big "yes."), but I am wondering if anyone has any concrete information about how the body responds to mixing the Aminos with the opioids?

All bodies are unique. Each one will utilize the amino's to the bodies best advantage. Without a double blind study being done specifically for you - no one can tell you exactly what percentage of the amino's your body is using. Thats kind of like asking -"How long will my withdrawals be?" ----------- no crystal balls around today so you better go ask your Doc

You didn't read my post or question....or didn't understand it.
1) I Know there is no contraindication (risk involved).
2) And I don't need to start taking them ASAP because I have been taking them for over a year.
My question was does the Amino Acid therapy work if you are still taking opioids?
Or, more specifically because I know it works somewhat ... to what extent does it work?

I think a doctor should attack this or at least someone who has done the Amino's and the opioids together to offer their experience.

There is absolutely no contraindication for the amino's and opiates. The amino's are natural and are produced by your body anyway.....I feel that you should be taking them Asap ---- THE BODY DOES NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE NATURAL AMINO ACIDS. IF YOU FEED IT TOO MANY OF THEM YOU WILL JUST ELIMINATE THE EXCESS IN URINE.

(SORRY - cap key stuck - dont feel like retyping)

My opinion is that it will help, but not as much if you quit. The use of drugs depletes the body's store of nutrients and endorphins etc... Just don't fool yourself into thinking that taking vitamins, supps & aminos that you are counter acting the effects of the opiates. You will never get back to normal as long as you are still taking opiates, even methadone & suboxone.
