We can also help you with ways to make the withdrawal a little more bearable. Have you picked a day where you plan on quitting yet? I feel it's best to get a plan together and put it down on paper that way you're not flying by the seat of your pants.
Have you thought about tapering? It can be tough for addicts because it takes so much willpower. I'm guessing you have tried it or else you wouldn't be asking about cold turkey? Many would rather go ct just to get it over with. When tapering the withdrawal symptoms are not as extreme but they linger around the whole time you're tapering. I myself would rather taper as I have in the past and got by with little to no withdrawals. But after relapsing a few times my addiction to the pain meds spiraled out of control and my willpower went out the window.
I'm not sure how you started taking the percocet. My use started with a back injury and turned into abuse. It doesn't really matter how or why we started because when it comes down to it addiction is addiction and we are all out to accomplish the same goal and that is sobriety.
If you feel comfortable enough you could fill us in on your "story". No one here will judge as we have no right too. We have all walked the same path here. You will be surprised how similar your story probably is to others. It does help to get it off your chest.
Please stick around no matter where you are at in your recovery. There are some wonderful people here that will bend over backwards to help. I have made some lifelong friends here. I couldn't be where I'm at today with everyone here!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

What kind of drugs do you mean? There are medications such as suboxone or methadone if that is what you are referring to. The thing about these medications is that there are also withdrawals from them. In my opinion they should only be used as a last resort. They are used as part of a program where you go to meetings or counseling to get to the core issues of why you used.
There are other non addicting meds that can help. One that is commonly prescribed is a blood pressure made called clonodine. It really does help.
There are quite a few over the counter supplements that can be of help. You can find the amino acid protocol in the health pages which can be found in the upper right hand side of the screen.
If you go cold turkey the worst of the physical symptoms will last around a week or so. For most days 3 and 4 are the worst and come day 5 you start feeling better and better. I would recommend getting the items for the amino acid protocol and starting them right away.
Be sure to stick around here for support. It truly is priceless!
Best of luck!
Brian
