i have been on methadone since 2/2008, before that i was up to 6-8 80mg oxycontins aday.. have been on some sort of pain meds since 2001 when i broke my back..so the methadone started out as a diff pain med, & i went up to 100mgs aday, i have SLOWLY been coming down, now at 17mg... but the pain is so bad i want to go back up, but i really want off.. im already having the restlessness, irritability, and i feel evry little thing 100xs more.. my docs want to do a new surgery that will relieve me of any pain, but i have to b off the methadone 1st... any suggestions with dealing with the pain & other symptoms.. i try to keep myself busy, do yoga, & i have 2 kids so its not like i can just take sleeping pills & wait it out.. my biggest fear is i will have to go back up & never get off ..... help please...

HI when you get to the lower doses of methadone it becomes more difficult to maintaine a ususable serum level one thing I foud that helps the withdrawals is a cheep 3 in 1 vitamin calcium magnesium zinc you can get it at walmart for 6 bucks get that on because I no the dose take 4 in the morning and 4 at dinner time in a few days you should notice your withdrawals wont be quit so sever when I detoxed I only wish I had found this sooner give that a shot and see how it work for you you will be plesently surprised good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Hello and welcome....although I am not familiar with methadone(mine is hydro)....I do understand having kids and needing to function not only for youself but to take care of them...I also do yoga

From what I heard meth is really hard to come off and I believe you can't just go CT if you are on a high dose and is recomended to taper down slowly....

I am sure someone will come along shortly with better advice and more experience with this med...for like I stated I have never personally taken only read about
