oxazepam

I'm busy kicking off oxazepam. It's hell.
I've been taking it for 9 years now (200mg/day). I'm down to 40mg but it starts to be really hard to say no to a second take in the middle of the nite when you slept 3 hours.
I kicked off prozac already, but this is another ball game. I have a very bad sweating issue. As soon as I know Im gonna have to face the world for some reason (even fun), I start to sweat like crazy. my emotions are unmanageable, a roller coaster. Life seems so complicated and puzzling. Is it all worth it? when I put all the issues that I went thru, I really ask myself how I made it so far. getting 40 was a shock to me. Not because of the age but I never thought I'd deal with all that happened to me thru the years. I'm thinking about suicide a lot (again).
Can somebody out there give me some guidance, some help or a pep post?

you could also try gabapentin, or its predesessor lyrica to aid you in any bad physical symptoms you get they all are used primarily for different reasons medically, but they have been found to alleviate and help with benzo wd

yeah you got whats called the "benzo blues" going on, theres actually a book called that exact same thing all about this, definitely take a look at it it really helps understand and grasp some of the mental and physical things you are going thru right now..after taking any benzodiazepine for a long period of time even at normal doses, obviously higher doses cause more pronounced symptoms, there is withdrawals if suddenly taken off of them or dropping the dose too soon..the best way is to go as slow as you and your body needs..it can take 6 months amybe even a year, but as long as you feel physically and mentally comfortable then the tapering plan is working. if the symptoms youa re ahving are going on every day then you might be going too fast or need to go abck up just a little bit for a week or two...definitely dont rush anything, better safe than sorry, it really seems liek youve come a long way and have most of the tapring through, so you should first be incredibly proud of yourself, you were taking a very alrge dose and for a very very long period of time, after taking something for so ong your body needs a few months to re-adjust..go slow and give it time, go back up to 60mgs or whatever your last dose was, and stay there and go down a little elss tahn before maybe 50 mgs, when you started at 200mgs and went down that tapering plan(the mg amount you went down) is not going to be the same as now where your at the 100 and elss section..i find it strange that youw ere on oxazepam for soo long at such a high dose, why they didnt jsut switch you to a more potent, but same effects benzos..but if when you needed it that worked for you, that worked for you no ifs, ans, buts about it..usually when someone is on a potent benzo like clonazepam(klonopin) or xanax(alprazolam), and want to get off they are switch at first to a equivalent dose on a long lasting benzo usually valium(diazepam), oxazepam(Serax)-which you are on, so that ones out, or Librium(Chlordiazepoxide), where all of these are benzos that are used for mainly anxiety or insomnia, there are other benzos used for anxiety as well, and others used for their hypnotic properties instead, but that does you no good. since they are all anxiolytic benzos they all have the same effects just in different doses- 10mgs of valium=.25 klonopin=20mgs Serax=.5 xanax=25 mgs librium...so if you can stick with the oxazepam and continue your tapering, just go a bit slower, or switch over to librium, it last only a few hours longer and is absolutely the same in effects, the dosage though is a bit easier to taper off of...best of luck to you-christos
