want some support and advice

Hey there..new to this forum. Have gotten so much help just from reading what others are going through. I have been on pain meds for 6 yrs. 2 major back surgeries, and still in pain. Doctor gave me Kadian to help with pain. Does anyone know if I can quit taking percocet and loritab cold turkey while on kadian? Will I still go through withdrawl? Have begun tapering off...or so I am telling my husband. I want to quit the daily abuse and just take one pill. The kadian has eliminated a lot of the pain. I feel better, but want to stop with the other meds. I know I will have to get off the Kadian at some point as well, but this is the first time I haven't been in pain for years. Please let me know if anyone else has tried this...

Kadian is a morphine sulfate extended release pill. Morphine is an opiate, as is percocet and loritab. You shouldn't have a problem when you switch. Be careful you don't OD....Didn't your doctor give you some info. on switching drugs? Did he say taper or ???? Like I said, you are still taking an opiate. So, you will still remain physically dependent on the stuff.  Chronic opiate use will actually make your pain worse over time. Have you thought about taking a 2-3 week drug holiday and at the end of that reevaluating your pain?  I would give it some thought.
Having said that, I vote you don't mess around with taking all the different pills. CT the percs and loritab and just take the MS once a day (as prescribed). Kadian has the same abuse potential as the other pills you take. Be very careful. Taking it in a manner not prescribed could lead to death. Remember, this is an addiction forum, if you are here you probably don't have much control over your drug intake.
Good luck,
