I agree with Sarah, if you TRULY want to be rid of them, only you can stop it. You have to be strong enough to tell him you don't want the pills and ask if there is anything else that would help your problem. I personally went off hydros cold turkey and didn't have any problems, but many can't do that. You may want to honestly tell him that you feel the pills are controlling your life and ask if he could help you wean off of them. If he is a good doctor, he will understand and help you. If he is not, he will instantly hear "addict" and treat you like you have the plague. I know, I have been there. You have a 50/50 shot. I wish you the best of luck.

Did you have some sort of an injury that he was prescribing them for?? Be honest and tell him you dont want anymore pain meds.
"but you could try not filling the scripts he gives you"
OMG!!! WOW WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!! Why didnt I think of that! What GREAT advice on how to stop taking opiates, just dont fill the script!!!!
GENIUS !!
not to sound flippant or anything but you could try not filling the scripts he gives you. Just because he writes them doesn't mean you have to fill them. But i guess if you are addicted it is easier said then done.
