weight gain!!!

Hi everyone! So, I have a quick question. Is it normal to gain weight after quitting your drug of choice? I'm 92 days clean from hydrocodone and I've noticed that I've gained weight these last few months... fml! It s*cks because the first week of detox; I lost soo much weight. I was tiny. Now, I've gained all the weight back and than some. Dammmnnnn! The last time I weighed this much was when I was pregnant. Sooo, is weight gain normal while detoxing\ getting sober from drugs??

Sarah- haha! Junk in our trunk, love it! I agree with that statement ;) I agree, id rather gain some weight vs. Being addicted to pills. I guess that I am still learning who the new "me" is? Ric- hi friend!! Thank u for your advice. I love to hear everyones input and advice so, its all good! I totally agree with you. I take my son on nice walks but, I don't eat as healthy as I should. My hubby and I are going to start working out again and eating better.

Smart man! About the women and weight thing as well as the exercise and not eating crap thing. Bubbleguppie, it's totally normal to gain a little weight after detox. I agree with Ric and Sara. It's ok to have some junk in the trunk! Just as long as you aren't replacing opiates with food, you should be fine and even out with time. If it's really bothering you, exercise will do wonders for you energy level, self esteem, and anxiety level.

Hey bubble piranha !!    I just wanted to say great job on your 90 + days !!!
I try to stay out of things that involve women and weight but I will say this. Going to the gym and or starting a daily exercise routine will make you feel better and help you to have a sustained good mood. When I eat 3 krispy kremes I feel pretty satisfied but only for a few minutes, then I just feel yuk .
When I run I don't feel good while I'm doing it but I feel good when I get finished and for the rest of the day  .

I would much rather see you with a few extra pounds than using.  It takes awhile to get our head and body all working together.  You will find that happy medium!!!  I thought we were supposed to have some "junk in our trunk:"!!!

Thank you sarah! You're right, I've seen\meet lots of recovering addicts who put on weight and they look great. I did something stupid this morning. While I was giving my son a bath, I stepped on the weight scale and saw how much I weighed, it was very depressing! Lol thanks for ur response. I guess that I'll have to start going to the stupid gym now...

Yes it is normal and Congrats on those 92 days clean!!!  I see many in my area who have cleaned up and the weight they put on looks good on them.  It is healthy looking!  There is also a down side to this too as sometimes we use our food as comfort.
