Minimal Vicodin Addiction? Minimal Withdrawal?

I have been taking only one and a half (5/500mg) pills a day for about a year now....its does not seem to be alot,it does not seem to be a necessary thing....but I can def tell when I dont take it..my back, feet, and knees hurt. I think I can taper off without too much of a problem....can anyone suggest anything? I am also on 10 mg of Lexapro daily, and 3mg daily of Ativan for anxiety attacks.Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

I have been reading posts and have come to the realization that as hard as detoxing was for me I got off easy.....and I do belive that some have to go thru the hell of w/d's so they can remember and not touch a pill again like me I close my eyes and still remember the feeling of wanting to get out of my own skin any way I could or feel the god awfulest feeling of "I can't do this" I even had a seizure on day one (but I'm prone to them) but I did it and am a better person for it dont get me wrong I still have a long way to go but as I am at day 5 is 100 times better than I was on the perc's everything seems brighter and my children are getting the benifit of a clean mother.....

This is a great time to quit. Nothing good will come from continuing ..

I remember being where you are.. I would give much to be able to go back, knowing what I know now..

Quitting from that dose will give you some discomfort, and that is fair.. if you wait a few years and ramp up consumption.. well, then you will really suffer..

I was 10 years of abuse.. Detox is like being scared straight for me .. I still cant believe how horrible it was, and 45 days later, I am still suffering ..

This is your chance..

I was the same as you...only taking 8-10 Tylenol #3/day with occasional percocet.I had a week of withdrawals, not as bad as some but all the difficult symptoms.I posted above and that is why i suggested the Thomas recipe and the vitamins to help.I still take those vitamins daily.

I was on 1 1/2 to 2 perc 30's a day for over a year I thought at such a low dose I would not get addicted then one day I was done I done it cold turkey and even at such a low dose the w/d's were horrendous......the creepers, no sleep, coughing, sneezing, aches, blood pressure up so high I thought I was going to die and then wishing I would but today at exactly 100 hours I am a different woman and I thank god he did not take me home as I begged him too maybe I got off light even though at the time it was pure hell. Just stop all together now I promise that there is light at the end of the tunnel.....

I have been off hydro for 4 days, I was taking 10/500 a day, for about 2 years, and throw in a few months of narco at about 10/10 per day. I feel like I have no energy at all I just cant get the strength to do anything, the smallest thing feels like its taking everything out of me, is this normal, this is the third time I have quit, I kinda remember this but not sure, I would feel like **** and just call my dealer back and get more, I didnt need a doctor, I was getting them from a guy who supplies it to the athletes in LA, so there is an endless supply thats the scary part its to easy to just say F*this I feel like crap let me just make a call and end this.......

I agree with cold turkey.. I just quit hydrocodone (10/325 5 ish a day for 3 years) I cut my dosage in half and felt withdrawals. Nothing worse than a flu (and not a bad one at that). Then 4 days later just did not take any more. The withdrawals were not bad at that point at all. I am not saying there were none but it is manageable.

I would just quit cold turkey. You are on such a low dose, why prolong it?
I think it's great that you caught this now, before it got MUCH worse!
I doubt you will even go through withdrawal. If you do, it should be very, very minimal.
Check out the health pages and there are vitamins and minerals you can take to help ease the discomfort, in reality you shouldn't need it, but it may make you feel better about quitting if you have it avalilable. PLEASE take it from me. I was addicted to lortab fro 5 years. It started out with one 5/500 daily, and it escalated into 25-30 10 mg lortabs daily. Your body builds up a tolerance and before long it takes more and more to get the same effect. Please just stop now, cold turkey. There is really not much benefit to tapering at such a low dose. Good Luck!

I would just quit and not even try a taper because u should not have any wd's and if u do it would be the very minimal and wouldn't last more than a day because 7.5 mg of hydro a day is a very very small dose. Are u takin it for pain or getting it from friends to take to get high?

This is a good time to quit before your use escalates.Arm your body with the vitamins and nutrients to help detox.I suggest the Thomas recipe and you already have to benzo to help with sleep.
Ibuprofen and /or tylenol in recommended doses helps the rebound pain and so do epsom salt baths.
You should have minimal withdrawal symptoms, but you will have some nevertheless.
I was not a heavy user and only took Tylenol#3 with occasional percocets and had about a week of withdrawal
When the rebound pain went away,I found that otc pain meds were just as effective as opiates without producing rebound pain.
Once I discovered that I did not need the opiates for pain relief,I did not crave them either.
That was over 6 months ago and still going strong.

Tapering from this low of a vicodin dose should be relatively easy.  Drop your dose by 1/2 tablet every few days.  When you get down to 1/2 tablet, drop that dose by 1/2 - to 1/4 tablet, do that for a couple days and then quit completely.  You should not have too much discomfort.  Best of luck.
