what I think

This is what I think.  Whatever way works for you to get clean and stay clean is the way to go. Please do not discourage me by saying "YOU CANNOT do it without" ..going to a detox clinic, n/a meetings, a few valiums, etc. etc. Encourage me please. Give me hope, faith in myself, feedback, suggestions and your support. When Iam down, please do not kick me, belittle me or make me feel incapable of recovery. Make me believe I AM stronger than my addiction, That the person I really am can concur all the obsitcles I am about to face. By your examples, trials & tribulations, show me I have the power to do this. Feed me all the information in a possitive manner, for what works for one may not work for another. This forum is a life line, a spark of hope. Give to me what you can because you want me to live and perhaps help someone else in return. You are all such an important part of my recovery.  Thank you.     Magi

Really happy to hear your hanging in there! Day 5 may be the last of the bad (badder?) days, it should start really getting better from there, so stay strong. Yeah, the energy thing seems to be slow coming back, but it will, and the mood swings should start to stabilize somewhat. I only know what I'm going thru up to 15 days though.I don't know why, but I sooo don't want to do laundry either. Cleaned the house alittle, dishes etc, but to hell with the laundry. lol.  Yeah, I'm dealing with the things I numbed and hazed for (my hubby). But I seem to be able to deal with things so much better now, and refusing to allow him to put the stress on me.
Ya know your recovering from a serious illness, so if your tired at night, the dishes, cleaning the house, AND THE LAUNDRY (lol) can wait. Take the time to relax, de-stress, and heal. Enjoy your kids. The cleaning will always be there later (its never finished anyway, is it?). Take some time to pat yourself on the back and know what a great job your doing. Everyday will get better and go faster. Keep up the good work and give yourself a break now and then.

Hi Magi-

Thanks for checking in with me!  I needed that!  I am PAST 100 hours now- I think tomorrow I can safely say Day 5!  I'm hanging in there.  A little rough with ZERO energy tonight.  I thought by taking one extra L-Tyrosine it would help, but made me jittery- so no more of that.  I took a hot bath and now I'm doing well!  Yes, I worked through all this, took care of my kids, tried to clean house, and do laundry (wasn't too successful with laundry though)- but better the laundry suffer than me.  Not as much humor as I had first thing this morning, but I'm hanging tough.  It does seem that either the L-Tyrosine or the Valerian Root helps with no cravings.  But I am sooo not used to living life without the numbing and hazing- so- I am adjusting to alot.  My mood swings are wild, but positive reinforcement helps alot!  Thanks again- How are you doing??

Snowangels, You should be about at 100 hours now, or end of 4th day. How are you doing? Do you have to work while your doing this? Hope your doing well. Keep in touch.

I do have support as far as family and friends. Especially my sister, allaboutmary, who is going thru the same thing, same time. We work together, live 2 minutes apart, party together and got addicted together. Both of us started pain killers for legitimate pain, but started really enjoying the energy etc. it gave us. You know!    Mary was on them for about 4 1/2 years, me 3 1/2.  We're done now. And will do whatever nessary to keep off them. The life is coming back in me. OH God, but I do need to get off my *** and get some exercise.

WOW- 15 days- that is GREAT for you!  Did you have any support during your detox?  I find not having anyone but this forum makes it more of a challenge, but not impossible.....Congrats again- I seem to envy anyone who is beyond my 90 hours- oh wait- I just hit 91 hours!!!!  LOL

OH and I would like to add- that people should be forgiving of themselves and reward themselves in a POSITIVE motivational way- we all make mistakes- learn from them and grow.  After hour 72 I treated myself with a TREADMILL....that is my reward for making it this far.  Everyone here kept saying exercise is the BEST remedy as well and it's hard to even IMAGINE exercise when your dragging and flu like symptoms- sounds crazy doesn't it?  Any sane person with the true flu would lay in bed all day- but I have found that forcing myself up and moving around works sooooo much better than lying around in bed- (besides I don't have time to lie around in bed) so I am sort of grateful I can't do that- but thanks for your post- maybe one day I can post being detoxed for 90 days instead of 90 hours.

Very good post, what works for one person does not always work for another .... Na is not for everyone ....  what we need the most from here is support ... there is no right or wrong way to get clean..
