Yes..definately let her know that. Some docs. are more concerned about their pt's addiction than they are the pain. Keep stressing the pain. Let her know that if you had something that worked better, you wouldn't need more than prescribed. Even what you are taking is less than I used to take just to help the pain. Use my words that I used. Like I said....We can deal with the addiction after we figure out how to fix whatever is causeing the pain. Taking more of your pills without permission definately is signs of addict behavior, but is also signs you are under medicated, so the doc. has to be careful. If I would have done the things I did, like run out of pills early or run to get refills right on the day I could, and tried to hide my addiction...my doc. would have cut me off. But I was honest from day 1. Even if you call the office and leave a message asking to take more and that you are in pain....when the doc. sees you again and says you have "addict behavoir"..you can now say you tried to ask and let them know you are in worse pain.  The part about not taking your meds to the street or getting them off the street works well too because that is their major fear.         Good luck
If you end up in alot of pain....go to the ER...tell them how bad your pain is...do this when you have pills and show them you have pills...so it is shown you are not there to just get pills, but that you are miserable. Hopefully they will give you a shot of dilaudid or something that works, and your doc. will see you are seriouse about the pain.  You might also tell your doc. to check out  the posts here at med. help under "back problems" to see what others are going through with pain, what is working, what isn't, and so on. I wouldn't direct her to the addiction forum though...lol

Doctor shopping is illegal and not worth the risk when all you have to do is be honest with the doc.  I used to doc. shop years ago when I was truely an addict. (meaning I needed and WANTED them for the high).
I have found out that being honest with my doc. got me alot further, without having that monkey on my back of having to lie or exagerate, always wondering whos watching...the doc, the pharmacist (s), the insurance, the feds....You get the point. And people that keep switching docs just till they get "what they want" (yes, I did it too), get frowned upon also.
Go to your doc...Tell how miserable you are, that you sometimes do take more because you HAVE TOO! Otherwise you have no quality of life. Tell the doc "look, I am in pain worse than I was, maybe my tollerance has built up to the meds, I am NOT taking my meds on the street, nor am I getting them off the street, because I am TRYING to do things the right way and I need YOUR help, at least till we find a better way to manage this pain.
Your doc. can give you more Noros than that. I used to take 2 every 4-6 hrs as needed, and I needed.  I was honest from the start that I was an x heroin user etc....and had a high tollerance to narcotics. I had to be weaned off before my surgery down to 750 vikes. Than after surgery I somehow got another herniated disk with compression within 2 weeks post-op..than even hurt again. What I said to say is what I told my doc. and he knew my past...he was the one that gave me 120 percocets and the schedule to wean off. And I told him I don't care if I get addicted again....I just want the pain to lesson down to at least bearable where I don't feel like killing myself and have some sort of quality of life.
So good luck...If your honest and get no help..then you have a reason to get mad. I guarantee enough trips to ER or the mental unit because of pain will show you are seriouse...lol...but just being up front is good to try first. Even with my background etc....my doc. finally gave me dilaudid and 8mg 4x a day. I tell you I cryed my first dose. I forgot what it was like to have the pain under an 8. And I thanked God and my doc. He put alot of trust in me to give me those. Even after he said if I eat my pills like candy again without asking him first he would no longer be my doc. It's a trust thing. Go for it!  Good luck.

WOW.....alot of people guessing....lol

Darvocet IS a narcotic. It's like what is considered the lowest on the list. Personally, it doesn't do anything to help me for pain, however, the person that said it can help WD's is right on in my opinion. But then you can have WD's from them also.

It is right percocet is oxycodone and tylenol.  Oxycottin IS oxycodone but made as an extended release and stronger. It has a bad reputation because of the many OD's from it. But what most don't know, is most the od's are from people that don't take it as prescribed. There are those that want to bypass the extended release and crush it, and those that don't feel the "high" from it as they once did so they take more, then it releases a double dose at the same times. I have had many friends die from it, and know of many.

percocet is oycodone with acetominophen(tylenol)

Darvocet is propoyphene with acetominophen (tylenol)

Propoxyphene is not considered a narcotic though it is an opiate. It has a very different chemical structure than morphine or hydrocodone.

there is a pretty big difference between the two. Percocet (oxycodone) is a schedule II narcotic, that requires a written rx w/ no refills by law and is closely monitored (i believe it is the same thing as oxycotin less the tylenol) vicodin (hydrocodone) is a schedule III narcotic and can be called or faxed in by a doctor and can have refills on it. Darvocet is a lower narcotic than both of these, though i'm not sure what schedule it is.  they dont work well for me personally for pain. but if i have NO pain meds darvocet is better than ultram.

why are you asking (just curious) i can tell you in the past when i've been out of my normal hydrocodone 10mg, a few darvocet work to keep w/ds away. but they are still a controlled narcotic and are an optiate. they are  very addictive the same as oxycodone or hydrocodone. so be carefull.

hope this has helped you.

luv ya,
tink  :)

Darvocet is like a large dose of tylenol and perks are oxycodone w/o time release.Oxycontin is oxycodone but time release.something like that.
