when does the depression go away?

so i am addicted to norco i quit cold turkey and made it six days and then the pain set in i suffer from scoliosis and have had two surgeries and its very painful for me but i covered the pain up with norco and when i stopped the pain came back in full force so i relapsed and have been taking one pill a day which takes the edge off but the depression from withdraw is still there and i just want to get back to normal im stopping the norco again and i know it will be easier since ive only been taking one a day im just afraid that this depression isnt normal and could really use some words of encouragement, i have a five year old daughter and i hate for her to see me so depressed how long does this last when will i be me again? by the way i was taking 8 10/325 norcos a day and i am proud of myself for how far ive come but the depression is horrible i dont even want to leave the house

My doctors told me they would not evaluate someone coming off of narcotics for depression for at least three months after they are clean. Because your brain chemistry is altered from the drugs for a LEAST 90 days. Coming off narcotics CAUSES depression and those effects linger for a while. So I would just say try to stick it out for 90 days using exercise and stuff then talk to a doctor if you are still really depressed.

Try getting out in the sun and going for a walk. Get done up and go out. Try to get up and moving and out of the house. Also force yourself to only focus on the positive not the negative. I'm 2 weeks out and these are some things that have helped me. Good luck and hang in there.

The depression is completely normal. I'm very close to eight days free and I've been battling depression and anxiety. The good news is it does get better. As I'm sure you know we have to remember we tricked our bodies for so long that everything was wonderful. Basically we were constantly flooding our bodies with happy juice. Now our bodies are trying to readjust. It can be hard I'm finding a lot of it is psychological too. Try your best to fight back and be happy.
