when will these symptoms of w/d of methadone end finally?

Hi everyone!  I'm a 32 yr old female. I was on ? MMT for 12 years.   My highest dose was 120 mgs.  Last year I was hit head on by a triaxle dump truck full of asphalt.  Spent 2 weeks in a level one trauma unit.  Suffered horrible injuries, and also permanent injuries.  At the time of admission I was at 35mgs.   Needless to say after the accident I've tried improving on my life & health where I could.  Leaving the hospital i was on so many meds.  Ive successfully taken myself off all meds besides blood pressure meds.  Jan 28th (which is now 2wks and some change)  I've been clean.  I jumped off at 5mgs.  However I'm STILL having w/ds!!   Worst is not getting sleep, but other symptoms I STILL have are....  no energy, bone chills, anxiety, & sneezing constantly.  Am I still experiencing these cause of how long I was on ? MMT?   If so, when will I get relief?   This is starting to discouraging me....   I feel like I'm holding up & then..... BOOM symptoms hit me.   I smoke ALOT of bud to help & it does.... it helps with the mental so I won't dwell on how I'm feeling so much.   I just need relief!!   If anyone has insight on approx when I should start feeling normal again, please share.  Ty in advance!

Thank y'all so much for your words of encouragement and time.   I'm had a half decent night last night and got some rest & today feeling ok.  But I know it's going to hit me again.... it's like it comes in waves.   I've been taking one a day vitamins & a B Compleex vitamin everyday.   I will have to try the other things y'all mentioned.   Just thanking God for the good days & the strength for the bad ones....  this past year has been horrible to say the least but I gain confidence with each passing day & through speaking with wonderful people such as y'all.   It really does make it a little better to know there's people to talk to who can relate & have experienced the hell of this sickness...   I'll keep you posted & feel free to friend frequest me...   #Blessings&Love

Hi congrats on taking you life back from the liquid handcuffs right now you in the jaws of it ,try not to get discouraged it is tuff in the beginning but it does get better I detoxed of a 7ry habit off 150mg down to 1  you did it right jumping at 5 because the withdrawals tapering below that where miserable as for your symptom the heating pad is a good idea in a big perponet of a hot bath as hot as you can take it even if it is only 5 or 10 min it will help the anxiety the soreness and will warm you up all the way to the core go strait for the bed and dry off there then right into the covers to hold the heat in this worked great for me you also need to start feeding your body/and brain the right vitamins and protein it needs to get well get up to walmart and pick up a can of whey protein this will give you the amino acids as well as the raw protein to heal take 2 shake a day the chocolate flavor is good when mixed with milk it is only 15bucks for a 2lb can this will also help with the energy crash as for sleep your just got to wait it out it will return in time right now cat naps will have to due also wile your at walmrt in the herbal and vitamin section there is some thing called ''highlands restful legs'' this stuff was a life saver for me  also good for the restless legs is taking a blanket and rapping you legs up tightly like swaddling a baby just know all this that your going threw is normal for detox  remember you get better in baby steps for me it was slow but each month came with victory's the first month is the hardest as for a time line for me and most of our members 90 days markes the point where you see the light at the end of a very dark tunnel keep pushing there you can do this keep posting for support we all want to see you make it good lck and God bless........Gnarly

hello and welcome. congrats on your 2 weeks clean.
methadone has a long half life, therefore it takes much longer for
the serum levels to drop. so yes, the detox and for the toxins to leave the body really does take months. please don't let that discourage you.
each day you will be healing.

if you were on other opiates I am sure that is also playing a part.
your body has been through a lot of trauma and is going to take
time to heal.
please try to be patient.

take hot Epsom salt baths, take a magnesium/calcium/zinc/potassium
combo supplement and drink protein shakes.
move around as much as possible, take an antihistamine.
over the counter for sleep, alteril, valerian root, melatonin, drink sleepy
time  and kava tea.
make sure you are getting enough fluids and eat a healthy diet,  fruits, veggies and proten.
keep the faith,
you are doing great.
there is a light at the end of the tunnel,
there is healing and restoration.
sending encouragement, support and prayers,
Debbie

Ty so much....  that accident took so much away from me I refuse to let this win!   Your words of encouragement help alot & mean alot.  I will definitely research MD posts on here.   Last night was a bad one for me so I just reached out.... but Ty for your time in responding.   Good luck with your taper & blessings.   Stay strong....   ain't no way around it but thru it.   Experiencing all this discomfort will serve as a positive soon.... cause I'll never go thru this again so relapse for me.....  and btw your NOT WEAK!   Your doing more right now then alot have the courage to do.  Stay focused and blessed!

I think everything you're feeling is probably pretty "normal" for methadone detox. It can take months before these symptoms go away.
I don't have any personal experience OFF of m/d but since I'm doing a taper right now from it, I've reached out to a ton of success stories, and have read every methadone detox blog out there!!
Congratulations btw for 2+ weeks!!! That's incredible after what you must have endured from your accident!
I'm weak. I would have used that accident as an excuse to use more... You did the exact opposite and I think that's truly amazing!!
There are a lot of OTC things/meds you can buy to help with w/d. Search methadone on this site and take a look at some of the awesome tips and advice that's been given from people who have been exactly where you're at!
Good luck and hang in there!! You're doing awesome!!!

Yea... I think there's always some depression that comes with addiction...  plus just life's ups and downs...    I just feel like these chills & no sleep ain't letting up....  once I get passed these I should be ok....  they say the physical is the "easy" part but for me it seems to be the worst...  specially at night.... I just want the constant chills to go away & get some sleep already.... sleep would definitely help my energy....

Sometimes the no energy thing is mild depression.  I've had to accept some of the things I know will not change.
