Subutex is 100% Buprenorphine while suboxone is Bup plus Naloxone which is an opiate blocker.  Some detoxes use Subutex to start to avoid severe withdrawl symptoms which can come on if suboxone is taken too early before severe withdrawls start.  The reason Subutex is not widely used in the U.S. is it is easily abused.  Subutex is widely abused and replaced heroin for many addicts in Europe.  Take the option out of your hands....get clean with suboxone then get the 3 month naltrexone shot which prevents opiate highs for 3 months.  If u try you will feel NOTHING....take your brain and thought process out of the equation.....md

Precipitated withdrawals will come if either Subutex or Suboxone is taken. A common misconception is that the knocking off of the original opiate is done by the Naloxone, but in fact is caused by the Bupe. The Naloxone is only active if taken by an IV route. If taken sublingually as directed, the Naloxone doesn't factor into the equation at all.

Just wanted to add to your comment. Supposedly the Naloxone is active only by IV. I found out the hard way that snorting it can cause precipitated withdrawals as well. I'm not certain if it was the Naloxone or Buprenorphine, but I think I've read elsewhere that snorting it can cause the Naloxone to become active. Of course it could have been the Buprenorphine that kicked me into precipitated withdrawals. Either way I shouldn't have been snorting it, and had three days of complete hell to pay because of it.
