Melatonin nightmare!!
Ive never been on an acid trip before but I can imagine it is very similar to what I experience last night. Today is day 15 of my Xanax XR withdrawal and I was chugging right along when I hit a brick wall last night. I could not take the wd's anymore so I took .0125mgs of xanax in hopes that would at least take the edge off. This was around 5pm yesterday.
Earlier in the day I had purchased some melatonin from a health food store in hopes that would help with the sleep and I took the recommended dose at 10pm last night. In about 20 mins I could tell I was getting tired but felt this is the "wrong" kind of tired. I've never felt those sensations before...it was very strange.
10:45pm I finally crawaled into bed after a very long, painfull, stressful day. I did drift off to sleep shortly after and woke up at 11:45pm in the worst sweats I've ever had, very anxious and with a headache. Got out of bed, drank some water, ate a pear and finally was able to sleep again. What followed was by far the strangest, freakiest dreams I've ever had in my life. There were colors, animals, planets, people, trees and other things I've never seen before in those dreams and they seemed to last a lifetime. I've never woke up more exhausted than I did this morning.
ANyway...I'm still givin it the finger!

This is a common melatonin side effect. It also happens to me. Practicing lucid dreamers regularly take melatonin to help them have more vivid dreams so they may recognize the dream state easier. You might try lowering the dose. How much did you take?
Hi Soonerdean.. It sounds like you had a reaction to the xanax and melatonin combo.. some get this reaction when mixing Valerian root and melatonin, sleep walking vivid dreams depends on the individual as I have taken both together and not had a problem.. I would suggest not taking together in the same day. I once had a epic dream of castles and war it felt like it lasted weeks and I was exhausted on waking this was from a new blood pressure med.. now you know what Not to do.. I wish you well.. lesa
