Hi Hippie, great first step in coming to this incredible site. I have been on this thread for a week and it is already life changing.  I am a 40 year old mom to 5 year old twin boys with a demanding professional career and a disabled husband....hence my access to OxyCotin 60mg, 80mg and Percocet 10/325. I have taken his pills on and off for probably 8 years. I did not get into the Oxy until about 4 years ago. I realized I had a problem when I tried to stop and got so ill. I was a high functioning addict and my use never affected anything until I tried to stop. I had withdrawals so bad that I had to leave work early which is not me. I also became short and irritable with my kids which killed me. I knew the drugs were destroying me though.  I ended up on Suboxone which I would not recommend. My doc kept me on it too long and also prescribed Adderral which could have become a new addiction.  In any case, when I stopped the Suboxone I had bad withdrawals even though I tapered so low. I then started tapering Percocet with my husband controlling the meds. I was doing great, down to two per day and relapsed a few weeks ago on the oxy. So I was taking 60-80mg of Oxy per day plus 2-3 Percocets. I came clean to my husband and took last dose of OxyCotin Sat morning (20mg). I am now tapering on Percocet and got down to about 3-4 per day. Last night i went ten hours between pills! I have a business trip tomorrow and after that I am trying to take 2 per day this weekend forward.  You can do this and you will find AMAZING people and support on this site. Use it, they are wonderful resources. We can do this together!

Dear Kate,
I wanted to begin by saying that it took alot of courage for you to write what you did. I was addicted to pain pills also for 5 years I took Vicodin, Lorcet,Fiorinal with Codiene & I know the withdrawels. I know how sick you feel & it's like you have to take the pills just to be normal & to function. I had to go into treatment & I know that sounds awful & you think no way not me, but this is an addiction & if you try to do this on your own you could have a seizure or die. That is what I was told the first day I went to the hospital because you r heart rate goes up. I don't know where you are but the hospital I went to was Intracare North (281)893-7200 I know they have places everywhere. It takes only 7 days to detox.. I hope I helped you! God Bless You...
