withdrawing from Vicodan and some methodone

Hi:

Back in the latter part of Oct I wrote regarding help for  my 24 yo daughter w/d off Vicodan.  Your suggestions were great, but she was still not able to do it.  Last night after 3 more weeks of using she signed herself into a detox
program. We picked her up this afternoon.   She just couldn't do it.  They gave her 20 mg methodone last night and 10mg this morning.  She is determined to stay home and do this cold turkey and my husband is going to stay home with her.  A few questions, is she now going to also be withdrawing off the methodone? If so what else do we need to know? Has anyone used the Thomas recipe and if so was it helpful?
Any and all suggestions, advice is greatly appreciated.

Thomas recipe works well very well and i am on day 12 now and this site works wonders the people are great and all the wisdom on this site is fantastic .so i am not sure on the methadone but i am sure someone will fill you in on that, but that's great your husband will stay with her cause for the next i would say at least 4 days it will be hard the w/d's usually subside on or around day 4 so just make sure to read people's posting and update progress and this place will help i am living proof of that so i wish her the best of luck and in a few days she will just love her new life i know she really will ,because i love not being a slave to vicodin anymore and i know when she is off it she will feel the same way also.so let the journey begin and your not alone there is always someone here you know so let this place give u the help u deserve ..god bless you....

HI and welcome back.....so happy to here your daughter is going to get clean
first off the thomas recipe will soften the blow a bit you should be ok with only 2 days on methadone.....the only thing im questioning is why your daughter wanted out of the rehab
was it to get high?? methadone dosent get you high but it does stop withdrawals its good she is out of there methadone is a real monster to come off of  and your a lot better off without it expect about a week of discomfort similar to the flue with some added anxiety
doing this from home is doable but you must make sure she dosent have any pills
rent some movies so she will have something to do all night wile she is up
a hot bath goes a long way with the symptoms keep posting for support and see if you can get her to come on and read and post it would be helpful good luck and God bless....Gnarly

Hi and thanks for responding.  She didn't sign out to get high, she has OCD and anxiety along with the dependance, yesterday afternoon when she had had enough of this S----
life she became somewhat impulsive and it's got to do this right now.  Did not investigate
the center enough.  We had already left her last night when they gave her the first dose of meth which she was totally against.  When she tried to talk to them this morning about she was told that this is what their program consists of and that's when she said i need to go home.  Will keep posting and hopefully get her on as well.
Thanks again,  Ann
