would it cause relapse?
my boyfriend is almost done withdrawing from oxycontin. he only has 2 suboxone left in his script but he says he's feeling a lot better. maybe the worst of the withdrawls is over? its been almost two weeks. he hurt his ankle pretty bad and is trying to get percoset from his primary doctor. he insists that percoset won't make him relapse. and on top of that he won't let me tell this doctor that he is withdrawing. i'm guessing just about any perscribed pain med would cause relapse, especially since he isn't even ******* finished withdrawing!!!! can you tell i'm a little angry about this? i suggested aleve or advil or something over the counter. he insists that won't work. some one please give me a little advice on this!! please please! what would cause him to relapse?
suboxone is for with drawls. That said, you can and wil withdrawl from suboxome as hard as anything.

3) Pick a time (2-3 weeks) for him to detox. Get the thomas recipe (on this website), and get him thru it. the 3rd day will be the worst, and the mental addiction the most challenging to over come.

I amgald to hear he got it looked at ..... We as addicts tend to be really good at making pain seem much worse then it is to get drugs.The best thing you can do is call him on it !!! it is going to be a rough road ahead . Do you know how much sub he was on and for how long ? Is he looking into NA ...You might want to see if the have something like alnon for you ..... feel free to email me anytime if you would like .

thanks everyone for your posts. we went to the er last night cause he claimed he was in so much pain. he got perscribed motrin!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! and an ace bandage and r-i-c-e. i was pretty excited. no i'm not married to him but we were friends for 13 years before we started dating. yes, the suboxone definitly kills the withdrawl symptoms but as soon as it wears off, he'll feel it till its time for another dose. i was mistaken by the way. he gets two suboxone pills for $18. remeber- he doesn't have insurance.
and it's not broken. he pulled some tendons. yes- he did get an earful. i started bringing up prior injuries, tattoos, and piercings he's had that didn't even cause him to flinch. and a barely swollen ankle is going to make him cripple to the point of pain meds?! i don't think so! and i think you guyes are right. he was definitly trying to get one over on me, the doc, everyone. i'm glad it didn't work.

Hi there. I am a foot and ankle surgeon. you tell your boyfriend we almost never give narcotics for a sprained ankle. If he can bear weight on it, then its probably not broken.
Do RICE : rest, ice, compression, elevation. put an ACE wrap on it, ice it, hell get some crutches if hurts to walk on it, take some advil or alleve or tylenol and quit wankin!!

He is definantely exhibiting drug seeking behavior. Without a doubt. Look at all the posts. You cant fool addicts.
The exact drug he is craving for his ankle also contains oxycodone which will lead him right back to
oxycontin like a horse to water. I think the idea of taking to the ER for x rays to rule out a fracture.
Enough of the suboxone is out of his system in 72 hours for him to get high if he takes about 10, 10mg percocet. He may be doing alright with the suboxone one thing you must make him understand is that is suffering from a chronic treatable disease of the brain. If he can't grasp call his Doctor anonymously and tell the staff he just completed a detox off of opiates. It's tough love but it works-------------------------Noah

where did he get the sub from ?how much has he been taking ? He should not have withdrawls if he is taking sub.
The withdrawl go away when one beging the suboxone. I think someone is pulling someones leg.
One thing people don't realize is that years of drug abuse changes your thinking and your emotions it distorts them to think another way.........

He needs to get to N/A meetings to get around people who are getting clean and working the steps........to get there..........
