xanax and alcohol

I've been an alcoholic for thirty years; I'm currently 43.  I've also had chronic insomnia my entire life and started xanax for sleep a couple years back.  The last two times I mixed xanax and alcohol my husband told me that when I came to bed I was hallcinating.  This frightens the hell out of me.  I just read a post re: mixing and realize now that I could easily die, especially considering my relatively high dose (2mg) and definately high intake of alcohol.

I can't seem to get this wine monkey off my back.  AA is NOT for me.

Ask God to come into your heart... wouldn't hurt... i usually tell athiests that I would rather be wrong my way than wrong yours. heehee

i like that thing you said about aethiests and rather being wrong your way.  i also drink alot and have taken to sleepwalking when taking lots of pills and hard liquor.  my wife has found me pissing in the catbox and the other night she found me rummaging around with a blue sharpie pen in my hands.  pills and booze will make you crazy wino

Sounds like you need help one way or the other.  

How about outpatient treatment?  I know alcohol is dangerous stopping cold turkey.  Get a doc's help and at least get clean.  Oh and the Xanax you are taking too - you need to taper off of that.  Talk to a doc about both - maybe when you get clean you might feel up to getting help in other ways.  Hard to make good choices when we are high.  Trust me I have first hand experience.

I have done the same xanax and alcohohol or trying to taper each. Never works, becomes worse. You need medical advice and withdrawal treatment with combination of other drugs and lots of prayers.
