iv been on klonopin, ativan, librium, valium, serax and n0w xanax wich i take 4mgs daily. the high that they give you (when you first start them) is a sense of well being and sedation and you get drowsy and a lil off balance, wich goes away over time (unless you abuse them and take too many at once obviously). xanax is known to be the strongest benzodiazepin available but also has a VERY short half life wich makes it more likly for abuse and addiction. so take it AS PRESCRIBED or only when needed.
Your reaction to xanax is the same as mine, it knocks me out no matter where I am or what time of day. Also if I take them at night I wake up feeling like I do not want to begin my day. Let me ask you this do you think they are helping your anxiety? Is the anxiety overwelming you? If not I would try to find alternatives to deal with the anxiety or use the xanax as a last resort not a daily dose. I have no degree in medicine but I do have plenty of years of self medication and from my experience finding natural ways to deal should be your first choice and pills should be a last resort. Just my two cents.
I took a sled .2 a year ago. Honest to God, I don't remember anything from around 4PM until after midnight.
Wife picked me up at work and took me home. She was concerned because she said I was 'talking out of my head' and call EMS. I did not go to the hospital, but I did see the papers I signed refusing transport, but the scary thing is I don't even remember those guys coming to the house, or even signing a paper.
I always took Xanax just to rest, (.25- .50)but haven't tsken any since that episode!
If u dont mind me asking..how long were u taking Xanax. I was prescribed 90 by my Dr. and took them over a course of about 3 mnths...I threw away about 8 when I decided to quit the vics. I didnt notice any w/d but I really didnt think that I would have to detox from those until I read your post about them a few days ago. Maybe I was w/d from those too and didnt even know it.
Thank God I was too ignorant to even know what I was doing so that I didnt focus on the possible xanax withdrawal. God has a way of protecting us from own stupidity. I was taking the xanax maybe 2 a day a few times a week maybe. I didnt even know what I was doing to myself. I am so thankful for your info; I will never take them again b/c judging by what u said they are worse than the vics. I was also heavily using vics and everything centered around them as u said..I could take or leave the xanax. I'll leave it.
Wow... is this story getting to be the Norm...
I was using Vics... so of course after a while, they give you anxiety. Especially doing what I was doing.. like saving my daily supply if I had to go to a Seminar and be "on"... I'd used my dosage for that... or if I knew I had to be out for a night... I'd double up and then take less the next day.
I was using Xanax for about 6 months... to stop the anxious feelings (I was abusing the Vics just by how I started to used them) I was taking 6 - 8 a day... but for five years.. and then see above. Doing that put me in mini-withdrawal all the time... sooooooooooo he Rx'd Xanax.
Now I had a Miracle cure to help me sleep. Not only that... I would hop on a plane... take a Xanax... and voila.. out like a light from take off to landing. I was prescribed them as needed in .50mg strength. If you asked me before my Vic withdrawl, I would have bet money I wasn't addicted to them. Truthfully... I never knew you could get addicted to
I used them (The Xanax) to help me get over the worst of C/T withdrawal from the Vics so I would sleep....a week clean.. and I threw the Xanax away... I didn't need them... I almost landed in the hospital. There is a term called "Rebound" anxiety... within 48 hours I don't have the words to express how bad I felt. It was awful.
If you are not taking them on a daily basis... I don't think you'll be having much of a problem w/getting off of them.
Only you know how you are using them. I was going to Drs., about three months trying anything and everything to feel better... my whole problem and my interal pschye was centered around the Vicodin.
I will say this to you... If your body was going thru Benzo (Xanax) w/d... you would know....it takes your breath away it is so overwhelming.
Take care of you

Just an added note:
I tried to C/T the Zanax... it's horrible. More than my body could endure for sure. I had to see the Dr. for help. Didn't mean to cut you short in the previous message.
She did put me on a taper...4 pills for 10 days.. then down to three.. etc.
Instead of taking four pills of .50... I started w/two 1/2 pill three 3 x's a day... then a whole one at night to let me sleep.
So then I (on my own) eliminated 1/2 pill. Now I'm on 1/2 of a .50 1x in the morning... same thing @ 3.... then 1/2 before I go to bed. So far so good.. I'm a bit ahead of my taper program ... but I want out of these.. they are horrible. However, I am going to have to stay where I am for awhile. Sleeping is a bit rough, I wake up during the night a bazillion times... but at least I am sleeping.
good luck... remember... don't try the Xanax cold turkey, it could have very severe effects ... especially if you have been taking them for any length of time regardless of the dosage.

I never abused Xanax... took it when I needed it. Although, I used it to help me sleep through W/D....
I now am tapering .... to make a long story short if you used it for any lenght of time... regardless of the usage. It can cause a lot of damage.
Just cut the pill in half....reduce it to 1.5 pills a day... that should work out fine.
When I TRIED to get rid of the Xanax too.. I truly thought I was going to die... Dr. put me on a taper.. 4 pills for 10 days... as I said, I never abused them... I just did 1/2 pill took a half 3 x's a day. I'm fine. TRYIT!
