Methadone main

I am going to a methadone clinic and taking 65mg/day.  I want to quit but am scared of the withdrawals.  Should I taper down at 5mg/day or more?

Thats a lot to drop, especially toward the end of therapy when your dose is lower. Most schools indicate that you should decrease the dose by 10% at a time.....and do that every 7-10 days - or when you are comfortable at the lower dose. Many take methadone down to 1/4 mg doses and even dose every other or every third day at the end.
