I have been taking klonopin for over 7 years now. They put me on it after my son's drowning accident. They started me off at 1mg, up to 12 a day. I am now down to 3mg a day. I tried to go cold turkey and stop but it was a nightmare. Unfortunately I was between doctors and had to go into urgent care where the doctor told me because I was having severe tremors, flashes in my eye's, blood pressure elavated, and severe chest pains - he told me to get to the ER asap as I could go into cardiac arrest, which could then lead to liver, kidney, and renal failure. I got myself into the ER and was given aspirin, nitro pill to reduce my blood pressure but I could not get a straight anwer about what the other doctor told me - can you die by quitting cold turkey? The ER gave me enough klonopin to get by until I see a doctor they recommend? None of the prescribing doctors ever gave me the warnings associated with this medication. Can you please answer these questions for me. I cannot go through what I went through when I tried to stop them, I could not sleep, developed social phobia, could not walk, frightened, severe panic attacks, felt like I was out of my body. I need help and answers before I see a new doctor. Concerned for my life.
