Withdrawl from Dialudid

I am new to this and this has been very scary for me. I was prescribed 2mg diauldid on Dec 20th for an impeding surgery that i had on Jan 30th. I was taking them 1 time a day at night to help with pain until surgery. After surgery I was on a BOLO for the pain and given Dialudid as well which i was taking for about close to two and a half weeks three times a day. I stopped taking the drug on Thursday/Friday the 13th of this month. The withdrawls are nasty and i mean nasty. I had SEVERE anxiety and suicidal thoughts which i ended up going to the ER in turn was given ativan to help. Since then i have had no sleep, increased thoughts, horrible appetite and my bowels are shaky at best. I have been off all of the dialudid for 11 days and i continually wake up around the same time with the FEELING OF my skin is crawling every morning. Can anyone please tell me how much longer i will suffer from this and finally get back to normal. The headache and fogginess is okay but the anxiety/depression from this is horrible. I wish i never took the drug. I took as advised and yet this is what happened. ANY HELP OR INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I wish the best for anyone dealing with this as wlel.

When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered. Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself.  It will take time - two to four weeks at least, for your receptors to down-regulate (for the brain begin to heal) and to start making its own endorphins. Brain heals pretty slowly, so it may take you as long as a couple of months to get rid of feelings of sluggishness, restlessness and depression. The best thing you can do is take good care of yourself, eat healthy food, stay hydrated, keep active and busy. Stay away from sugar, soda, and simple carbs. Do not consume caffeine at least 6 hours prior to bedtime.

The creepy crawly in your skin feeling i would get every morning after waking up as i was taking the dialudid nightly for over a two months. It finally just went away. Exercise does help but im in the position where i just have my bicep tendon reattached so i am rehabbing that , while i have the same tear in my left which is painful all day. I have to have it repaired as well. I plan on not pain pill after this next surgery. I did it three times with no meds i can do it again. m3talmary how are you doing coming off ? Any questions i am a month off and getting better on and off then have days that im blah . no sleep doesnt help. im doing this all without any aids of any kind.

Bolo is a pain ball that is connected to a tube placed in the nerve in your neck. I was taking the dialudid for 2 months solid while the last three weeks were daily 6 mg. I had been on and off of flexril as well. I was taking it the way i should. As of last week the skin crawling feeling in the morning has stopped for the most part. Now its headaches and no sleep. Constant anxiety during the day. Im going to counseling and havent had a sip of alcohol since.

I also drank heavily the night after i quite cold turkey. I have always been very sensitive to some drugs. For instance anything over 5 mg of lexapro would throw me off my rockers. I think I just got it really bad from the alcohol and the drug all at the same time. I feel blahh. but have moments of happiness during the day so its positive, but the damn headaches just wont stop. Makes you feel very foggy.

hey There-

I've detoxed cold turkey off very high doses of Dialaudid (40+mg day) and the withdrawal was pretty awful for about 4 days but then I survived and felt awesome for years.  I have had to take it for short amounts of time for surgery and recovery since then (2 weeks-month) but only the dose you say you are on 4mg/day and never experienced withdrawals.  It's strange to me that your w/d symptoms are so intense after such as short usage time and it doesn't sound like you were abusing them (taking more than prescribed or for longer than prescription)
Question- what is BOLO?
In the mean time.  Drink lots of fluid and exercise as much as possible.  It is the key to burning off that anxiety and producing natural endorphins that will make you feel better.  Are you still experiencing pain or are you relatively mobile?  Saunas help too, as do hot baths.
Nonetheless- you will make it through this.  A great thing I learned- when you wake up at that same time in the morning with creepy crawlies, eat a banana and take some tylenol.  You will go back to sleep.  Or at least, I did.
Good luck to you.  I've been around this forum for nearly 3 years though i've been absent for some time.  If you have any questions just let me know.
Sending support and comfort-
Lu

I am in the same boat as you. I've been taking a number of opiates in the past like opana, oxy, percs in all kinds of milligrams.  Then I starting taking dilaudid. It rocked my world. I would shoot half a 4mg. I did this at least twice a day until I'd run out. And when I would, hell would hell comes out. My anxiety skyrockets and I get so angry. I find myself sleeping in late, no appetite, and creepy crawlys in my legs. Right now I am trying to get off the pills. I take buspar for the anxiety, I take neuratin for RLS, and a sedative to help me sleep. What also helps really we ll is exercise! If your kegs start yo bother you, go to the gym . And you'll at least have your mind occupied. As for how long you'd feel crappy, 3 weeks to a month at most. Good luck! I am also trying as well to get through this!
