hooked on oxy after 2 weeks

I had surgery a couple weeks ago to have a pelvic mass removed. The gave me instant release oxycontin 15mg every 3 hours. I came home a week ago & they gave me a prescription for the oxys. I decided to stop taking the oxys because I didn't have pain anymore. I started having terrible withdrawal from the oxy pills. Shakes, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, can't sleep, can't eat. This went on for about 2 days. Well, I gave in and took 1 oxy pill. If I don't take one every 6 hours, I start to withdrawal. I want off of them so bad but don't want to go through the withdrawal especially since I don't know how many days it will go on for. What do I do? Please help me! I'm a 24 year old female. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice! I had some vicodin left over from a dental surgery so I'm weaning myself off by taking half pills and quarters. It seems to be working well. I have nausea and a head ache but at least the shaking and sweating have stoppped. I can't believe I got physically dependent like that so quickly! At least I know for the future so they can give me something different.

You need to talk to your doctor ASAP, to change you prescription to something less addictive and something you can taper. Maybe Vicodin. It is not as strong, but you don't need pain relief at this point. OxyContin  is very rarely prescribed now for post operative pain because it is so very addictive.
You will need to be in some discomfort when you switch to Vicodin, but it should not be as severe. Then taper it off slowly , realizing that you are still going to have some withdrawals.
Another option is asking for Suboxone, but not every doctor can write you those. It is specific for withdrawals, but it is possible to get addicted to those as well. Suboxone has to be tapered aggressively in order not to be addicted.
Please let me know how you did, I can give you further help if necessary.
