I personally have not thought about either. I'm on day 25 and tomorrow will be day 26 and every day is getting better. I don't want to take anything after I am fully withdrawed from subs, nor do I want to take anything during.I understand you are just trying to give helpful input and I appreciate your concern, but after years and years of addiction to all kinds of substance abuse,Ive finally have had enough.I'm am looking forward to a clean and healthy lifestyle. It maybe a little to late me being 55, and perhaps should have thought about this 35 some yrs ago.I think my body has taken enough abuse and I don't want to add anything else to it. But I do want to thank you for your concern and input.

For those getting off heroin/suboxone, have you considered using naltrexone pills to help with cravings and PAWS?  I think the injection, Vivitrol, is contraindicated for 14 days, but I've seen protocols on internet from doctor type sites that indicate, very low dosage of naltrexone as you get to de minimis amounts of suboxone can be helpful.

Vivtrol seems to work well after you are completely off suboxone in preventing relapses and dealing with PAWS. Have you considered? I think the pills can work equally well, but you have to take it everyday and unlike suboxone and methadone there is no compelling reason to take it to prevent withdrawal, so it gets a bad rap because of compliance issues.  But the pills are way cheaper than the injection.

I went to a detox to help me taper, i split my dose through out the day, even tho its fround apon i ultimatly consider its to be ok since i cuz my dose in half by doing this from 12 to 8, i did the taper in detox but for some reason they only taper patience to 2 mg, ( crums would have made a hell of difference) there proffesionals and meds, best of all makes the days fly by, it started with no sleep for 2 nights, and gradually started to sleep more and more, but it didnt feel like restfull sleep, the hot tub was my bed for 3 days, then the shakes started, and i was spilling drink all over the place, thats just part of it, im starting relapse prevention march 15, and working the 12 steps i really enjoy online Na speakers its my form of meditation daily. Maybe il be able to tell my story later on in
Recovery 40 days is early in the NA world, i also notice the PAWS getting stronger, my appetite wont leave me alone but i was told its a good sign, if i havent mentioned
It im 26 years old, with approx 5 years of opiates, and a year or more of ecstasy before that, hope your still hanging on, theres life outside these walls

After years of heroin addiction,i got onto a methadone clinic in 1995. Was on 90 mgs for a long time, then started tapering off to I was on 1 mg. finally got off then started taking percs, and.,vicoden. went back on the methadone clinic where they put me back on 15 mgs.Iwas on 15 mgs for about a year then . decided to try the suboxone. had to miss one dose of methadone, then they put me on 4mgs of suboxone. Went from 4 to 2 then to 1mg then eventually to a half.Today is day 16 I have been off of the 1/2mg and this is the best I"ve felt in awhile. I hope you get to go into a place and start to feel better. I"d do the same but I think the worst for me has come and gone.......HOPEFULLY!!!!! I wish you much success in your recovery. If you get a chance, write a post about your experience.

I thought i had replied to this, i meant to say january 17, i take full vitamins, fish oil, 5htp, protein with amino acids and glutamine ,ephedrine helps but its a stimulant and can be addicting mentally, i wouldent reccomend it for everyone it can cause a mess,
Waiting to get into treatment i think proffesional help is the best thing anyone can do for themselves, yesterday i woke up with anxiety, and fuzzy thinking , emotional and physical pain, that heavy heart feeling, and tired couched all day watching movie, i can notice the paws getting more heavy, but im 32 days clean , after years of suboxone, methadone, and oxys, ive tryed everyway and finally wanted to come to life again, people are scared of feeling pain they say, i just wanted to feel again

I forgot to ask you if your taking any vitamins,or eating any certain foods that may be helpful during withdrawals. Also you stated that feb 17th was your last dose of suboxone. Itake that was a mistake since today is only the 15th. just wondering

I am so glad you are doing so well, since Suboxone is an opiate and is extremely addictive. People find it just as difficult to taper and quit. One of the patients in our clinic, who we had to detox from Suboxone, was so addicted, that no matter how far down she titrated this drug she could not get off. At one point she was literally just licking the 1 mg strip, but she could not give it up.
Below are some suggestion as to the medications that can be useful with the withdrawal symptoms you might yet experience.
See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make your withdrawals easier.  Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future. When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered. Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself.  It will take time - two to four weeks at least, for your receptors to downregulate (for the brain begin to heal) and to start making its own endorphins. Brain heals pretty slowly, so it may take you as long as a couple of months to get rid of feelings of sluggishness, restlessness and depression. The best thing you can do is take good care of yourself, eat healthy food, stay hydrated, keep active and busy. Stay away from sugar, soda, and simple carbs. Do not consume caffeine at least 6 hours prior to bedtime.
Take a look at my blogs about options for detox and recovery. You may also take a look at my clinic website where I also have my blogs and a lot of other info about drug addiction and recovery. Look especially into the blog and the info on Naltrexone therapy after getting clean. It really improves your chances of staying clean for good by cutting down your physical cravings. Look into my clinic website as well. All this can be done by clicking on my name in blue.
