I'm Back

Hi Medhelp friends!  It's been a long time and I hope you are all well and happy.  I need help.  I am trying to get pregnant and suffering a lot with serious endometriosis pain.  I have been opiate free for over 2 years with the exception of a knee surgery and a short stint (4 days) with pelvic pain that could not be helped.  But I have been on Oxazepam 30 mg for 6 years (for sleep) I want off of it as I am afraid of what it will do to the fetus should I (hopefully conceive)  My family Doc is gone.  I have to wait a month to see a specialist.  I have been to a doctor who has told me to just stop taking it but everything I have read says this is dangerous.  Thoughts?  I am in a bit of a panic.  Not well.  Not sleeping.  Need some advice/support.  Thanks guys.
Love
Lu

Hi Julia-
Yes I know that I should not be taking the oxazepam while pregnant and want off of it before I conceive.  My question is- how quickly can I go off of it without suffering w/d as I have heard they can be very unpleasant and even dangerous.  I run my own business and have a lot of responsibility and am currently very unwell with autoimmune (Crohn's/endometriosis) I am just trying to be as safe and healthy as possible.
Thank you
Lu

You should not be taking oxazepam once you are pregnant, since it is category D and is contraindicated in pregnancy. Ambien is a tad safer for sleep, the less you take the better.
