Liver Function Test

I have an AST 46 and ALT 36. Does this indicate liver damage? My AST is 6 above the lab upper limit normal and my AST is obviously higher than ALT.

Hi, and thanks.  I don't have any further questions, in general, I was only wondering what others' experienxe was in the inverted AST/ ALT scores.  Alcoholism itself is no longer a "problem" for me - not to say I'm lax about it - but I haven't been drinking in some time now; my body is still just recovering from the 8ish years of abuse I put it through.

Hello and welcome! I see this is your first post on here. By now you might have talked to your Doctor and have a professional answer to your medical question. We're not medical professionals on this particular forum, in fact I'm a recovering alcoholic. You posted under this heading and that might indicate that you have further questions about alcoholism in general?? We'd be more than happy to talk to you on here and help you out if you feel you need help. Your posting on this forum is a good start in the right direction for answers to any questions you might have.

Just a little background about me: My liver wasn't doing so well years ago, in fact it, and a few other things in my life weren't going so well U might say, brought me to "the fork in the road". One path led to utter destruction as in jails, institutions and the other was a path to sobriety. No one person could, or even needed to tell me what path to take. The alcohol itself dictated that. Death by alcoholism was quite a Specter to be looking at and I felt like the living dead when I decided to finally stop the daily and nightly insanity. Recovery has been good to me. People DO recover from the disease of alcoholism.
