One glass is too much if you have a problem.......You wont convince any of us here that what you are doing is okay. We have been there and we know the damage we did to our body and mind.....Please look deep within yourself.
In regards to your question to me, 3-5 days isn't much recovery time when you consider the fact that you used to drink more (I think you mentioned this in your other post). Everyone's physiology is different. But if you have been doing this for a period of years, then you should give your body a break. It takes time to undo the damage caused by excessive drinking (and some studies say it takes well over a year). 3-5 isn't enough to to undo damage (if there is damage). I had actually reduced my consumption to about 3 days per week when I was diagnosed with a liver issue. It's because I never allowed myself to fully heal.
Why don't you get yourself checked out? Tell the doctor how much you've been drinking and see where you stand today. As for stopping, make a short term goal....let's say 90 days off. What's 90 days in the grand scheme of things?
In my opinion it sounds to me like you have posted here so someone will tell you the amounts you are drinking and how often you drink is OK,in my opinion
We would never tell anyone how much or how often is OK if you are questioning how much and how often you drink then you have a problem,in my opinion.
It's as if you are trying to justify your drinking. That is how an addictive brain works,Sorry

it's three days and a fifth sized bottle of wine is only 3-4 glasses so I can't see how that's an excessive amount.
Jacker I give it some time away from the bottle every week 3-5 days I mean not sure if that is enough hough but how much time exactly a week or a month or several months?
Oh no I noted that I drink a fifth of wine every Friday, Saturday and Sunday I said I drank little or none during the week unless it was a holiday.
It varies widely by the individual. But with a bottle of wine at a time, on consecutive days, you are probably damaging your liver. When the liver cannot process all the alcohol, it converts some of the toxins to fat cells which are deposited in the liver. You can get these cells after a long weekend of drinking, but they will disappear of you abstain for awhile. If, however, you continue to drink you can end up with a condition called Fatty Liver Infiltration. This means there is enough to show on a CT Scan or in an ultrasound. If this continues without healing, the fat cells will eventually scar and turn to cirrhosis. Your weight, diet, medications, and other factors can help speed this process along (or not).
Don't play games with your health- the liver is a very regenerative organ if we don't push it too far. But in order to heal, you need some time away from the bottle.
You noted you drink every day of the weekend...plus friday so that would be 3 days?4 days?and a bottle of wine?is that a 5th?a magnum?that is a significant amount! If you got a 12 hour fasting CBC it would tell you what your liver enzymes are.
I should think that the amount of safe drinking would vary with the individual.
