There are many roads to recovery.....may u find them for urself individually.I went to rehab in 1983.....attended AA,NA,SOS and RR...took what i could use and left the rest.Back in the 80's this type of therapy plus using meds for folks who had PAWS was taboo...sure glad to see things have evolved to aid in the transition of folks in early recovery!
Thanks so much for the info. I understand completely about needing to quit before 50. My uncle was an alcoholic and died four years after he retired from alcohol related problems. I'm headed the same way if I don't quit but the cravings are so bad that it's hard. Will try googling Vivitrol and talking to my PyschDoc. Once again, thanks!
I got it from my PyschDoc . I did not like A.A. I went to therapy Weekly . And cognitive groups at the addiction clinic . Quickly I no longer needed it . The shot were in study 2 years ago . They just got passed. Not to long ago . They are costly but, they do free studies .( Google Vivitrol ). even paying is better than liver disease. I had to quit before my 50's .Or I was goin to die that way . And that would be very sad to do . I have to fight . Good Luck Bill
Are you serious? There is a shot that will block brain receptors? What doctor did you see - an addiction doctor? Why haven't I heard about this before. In addition to getting the shots do you attend aa?
Now to find a dr.who will give me the shots? I will be checking on it for sure. Thanks for the info. Be nice if my insurance would pay, but i would be willing to pay for a couple of shots if they are that good. I know it is spendy, i looked it up. thanks again, T
