I agree with the others, you need to get help, I tried to do it "my way" big mistake, i stopped for awhile but never changed my thinking, when I went back drinking I went harder than before, drank heaver. It was not until I got help that things changed, I went to AA, here people saw when I was acting like and therefore thinking like a drunk and they puled me aside and made me aware of what i was doing wrong....it was not easy....because I made it difficult, I fought it all the way but eventually by the grace of god I made it thus far, today I am happy and sober.....this is a progressive illness so it will not get better....

I'm glad you want to stop drinking while you are so young. You can have a full and happy ahead of you. I have a disease called Alcoholism. I haven't had a drink in 3 years, but I do it one day at a time. Maybe you might have it. Over 5,000,000 people in the USA have it. The only medicine that works is AA. Try to get to an AA meeting and you will see a lot of other people that understand what you are going through because they have the same disease. Get what is called a "Big Book" from the meeting and read it. It will help you understand what is going on. If you had cancer you would go to treat it. It's tha same thing. Please check out AA and try hard to go to meetings because I would hate to see a young person like yourself ruin your life.

Hello. Medications alone are usually not effective in treating alcoholism. To fully recover, most alcoholics need some kind of support system be it AA, counseling, or other means of dealing with the psychological or emotional side of their condition. It also sounds like you may additionally have some type of anxiety disorder, which is common in alcoholics. A professional evaluation by someone with experience in the area of chemical dependency would be a good place to start. If you haven't tried it, you could also check out AA in your area, as it works for most people that have had enough pain and are willing to try a new way of living. If you are ready for help, the help is available. If you have concerns or questions, please ask. Hope this helps and take care, GM
