Early this morning we lost 4 men, ages 21-25 in a car accident.  They failed to yeild and a semi carrying grain hit them and they died instantly.  The one young girl is fighting for her life.  She was airlifted from the scene.  They were not wearing seatbelts and alcohol was found in the car.  4 families lives are forever changed along with the truck driver.  PLEASE, the next time any of you feel the urge to pick up and drink think about what can and does happen...This forum also experienced a HUGE loss last week upon the news that Boogieman had passed away.  Tonight when i lay down to sleep i will look to the heavens and thank the man upstairs for giving me another day sober and clean, my family is safe, my 4 legged babies are sound asleep next to me and for all of you~~~~~~sara

The passenger that survived here is still in critical condition.  They had to remover her skull due to the swelling, her spleen is gone and they removed part of her intestines.  She was going back in for surgery to have rods put in her legs.  She is responding to pain now and they said that is a good sign.  Still in a induced coma.

He is still in a critical condition in hospital. Yes we do have some kind of law here I think it is worded  "dangerous driving causing death". I dont know what if any charges will be brought against the driver, their were eight people  in a car designed to take five and so had only five seat-belts.

Having looked at some of the news reports it appears they had been returning from a Bar where they had been watching the World cup final. Some of the people in the car had decided to leave their cars and take a lift as they had been drinking. It is not known if the driver was drinking but other drivers say his driving was erratic just before the accident happened.

I didnt realize the driver survived.  Will they charge him with vehicular homicide or dont they do that in Ireland.  This is all beyond words.  What can we all do to get the dangers of this out into the public?  I feel so helpless...

Hi Sammy, yes I was looking at the news reports about this accident. So many young lives lost, the driver who survived will have a heavy cross to carry. Just beyond words the whole thing.

That was a terrible accident too.  He sent me the article.  It is just scary thinking how i cheated death so many times.

As Ray has probably already heard we lost 8 people in a smash in the early hours of this morning, most of them in their teens early twenties. When I think back on the conditions I drove in I thank God i never hurt anyone.

I wonder how many young lives will be lost before the message gets through?

Personally I think all cars should come with a breathalyser which is attached to the ignition so the car cannot start until you've breathed into it,if your over the limit then the car just won't start.

But then civil liberties would say it's taking away our freedom

people will just have to be patient and tolerant,  I get jumbled up & confused from time to time (medical problem) and make mistakes, lol well I am human after all.

Anyway this is distracting from Sara's post, should we not concentrate on that?

I knew the one guy as i worked with his fiance last year and they just had a baby 2 months ago.  My heart just aches for the families.

I remember when my dad was going thru his brain cancer and the neurologist said that our brains are not fully developed until we are in our early 20's.  She said that is why young people are so fearless, footloose and fancy free.

We can only dance with the devil for so long before he gets us.  For those who are struggling today, please look around at all the things you have to be grateful for.  Make a list and keep it somewhere that you can see it.  You will be amazed.  Then head for a meeting........sara

the young think they are invincible...immortal....that things like this will never happen to them..i was once a young fool who felt the same.....and am eternally grateful i never died this way..or caused others death this way...i indeed had a spiritual awkening at age 28 and now 55 is soon upon me and a drink a pill a joint...all of it is not in my mental library anymore. it has been deleted!:)
