I need HELP for my husband.

My husband has been a severe alcoholic and smoker for 20+ years.  Last November he suffered 2 seizures and cardiac arrest. He was diagnosed as having been dehydrated.  No lung cancer of fatty liver.  After coming home from the hospital his  thought processes were irrational and inappropriate.
Occasionally he couldn't speak.  He would stutter and  had aphasia for about1 month. This has just reaccured. He began to be awake at night and sleept during the day.  At night he was overly mentally active - excited and aggitated. He became delusional with plans and inventions. His handwriting changed. His appetite has decreased to the point he has 2 tablespoons of food a day + 2 glasses of orange juice or milk.  He is very weak.  He sleeps most of the time.  I can't get him to go to the Dr. He takes no prescriptions.  Is he dying of liver disease? What do I do?

he certainly needs a doctors treatment, if not rehab for drinking 20+ years.

My brother died of liver failure, so I do know the signs... what I can't understand is, you say his liver was ok, but the signs you are describing sound like he is not.  Does he have any fluid retention in his stomach, are the white of his eyes yellowing?  If so he needs help fast,.   Either way I think you need to get him to a doctor.  How much is he drinking?

You need to get him to the hospital.  You cannot do this alone.  He needs nurishment and fluids first and foremost.
I am sorry this is happening but I don't think anyone here can help you with this nor should they try.  It's medical and you should take it very seriously.
