Still sober

Hi Everyone:
I am 74 days clean, have a sponsor and am beginning step 4.  At times I feel that I take 10 steps ahead only to take 20 steps back, but I have not picked up any alcohol.  I pray to keep sober a day at a time.  I know that I can't; He can and I am willing to let him do it.  Thanks for all of your support
Chichi

Keep up the good work. Getting out of addiction is very hard task to do, so you are really doing a pretty good job. Here are a few tips on how you can keep your focus and how you could become more successful in pursuing your goals.
1. Find some fun activities, preferable a sport that could help you divert your attention into something more productive and entertaining.
Alcoholism sometimes starts when you start to feel alone or when you do not have something else to put your attention and focus into. Have an interesting sport or hobby that can motivate you to get out of drinking or a passion that you long to pursue for a very long time. Go for an activity that will trigger your creativity and passion in life.
2. Be an inspiration to others.
Help someone in need and hopefully be their reason for changing for the better. The best way to help yourself is to help others. As you motivate other individuals who suffers from alcoholism to becoming alcohol free, you will start to see the life that you once ad. You tend to realize the things that you fail to discover and notice during your dark stages. As soon as you start the realization process, the more wary and cautious you will become in getting back into track whenever you feel that you are going back to your old bad habit. Helping others is also a way of helping yourselves in the process.
3. Dream big for yourself in the future.
The moment you stop dreaming is the start of your crumbling back to alcoholism. As long as you have a lot of positive things to look forward to, you’ll see yourself moving forward and trying to become that better person that you want yourself to be. Always think of the things that you will achieve after being completely alcohol free.

Hello dear,

Please accept my heartfelt wish first. I am pretty inspired to know that you have managed to get yourself clean for over two months. I hope you will be able to continue your present state till the end.

One thing I would like to suggest is that you should never mix with people who are accustomed to taking alcohol too much and too often. Best of luck!
