I'm having the same issue. How is your situation evolved!? And have get any new information about this case
I get the same reaction and I rarely drink. I have never been a heavy drinker so it is not withdrawals. I've found that if I order a margarita from one restaurant in my town I don't have the reaction but the margarita from the other restaurant I react to every time. Now I'm afraid to try it again because last time was extreme where I was in bed wrapped up in blankets and shivering cold all night. Woke up in the morning just fine. I had 1 small margarita and only drank about 1/2 of it so no I wasn't drunk or hung over. I believe it's an allergic response to some ingredient in their recipe but I really have no idea specifically what ingredient.
I am 27 years old and have had the same problems recently. I wake up in after sleeping for about one hour and have flu symptoms. My fever hits 100 (which is 3 degrees above my normal body temp) and I begin getting sick, muscle aches, everything. I drink very very rarely. Maybe 1 time every 5 or 6 months. And this happens after even 1 drink. Wish I knew why it happened, but for now I will probably be done drinking.
Please let me know if you figure out the issue!
Best wishes.
I am having the exact same symptoms. I very rarely drink however. But sometimes, and not every time, after I get home and fall asleep, I will awake shivering barely able to control it. I never have more than 2 drinks and its maybe 1-3 times per month. I have tried to see if it happens any other time and the answer is no, its always in the middle of the night when I am asleep. I have had drinks on occasion since growing up and have never abused drinking... I also never had this issue until the last several months. I am 41 years old, a bit overweight. All of these symptoms could lead to it, I am just wondering why all of a sudden this started and what is it thats causing it.... it doesnt happen every time after a drink, but sometimes it does. I will get up, take an ibuprofen and then it goes away within minutes....sometimes I sweat from the fever sometimes I dont. Its not a huge fever either... only maybe 1 degree off .... I know it doesnt take much.
Why does it only happen while asleep? Its usually after eating and having a beer or two, but not every time. Could it have something to do with yeast? Would that cause a fever/shivering if your body has too much? No idea what would cause this.
U have Asian flush syndrome, where one has deficiency in ALDH2 enzyme which is needed to break down some important toxic materials while consuming some drinks, especially alcohol. Its a type of allergy a,cure is not found yet
Booze is a KILLER!! Killer of health, family, friends. relationship and your spiritual being.Living without booze, I am an alcky who attends AA,has opened my spiritual side and I am so much happier and I DON"T miss shakes,***** and shivers.Oh never mind the two yrs of alcoholic seizures!
Google alcoholic neuropathy.Sounds like ur daughter has the symptoms of this!I knew a very functional hardworking alcoholic who drank heavy that had this.Symptoms will subside and go away if one gets sober but it is a devastating disorder on the central nervous system.
u need to watch combining ibuprofen with alcohol.....both in excess can cause irritation and bleeding of the stomach lining.
My daughter is a 43 year old alcoholic. She has been going through a battery of test for tremors, fever, confusion, sight problems, tingling, numbness and lack of coordination. So far they have ran every test available. She has an appointment with a neurologist next week. Her primary care physician said it may be ms. I am worried about her. She has not told her physician she is an alcoholic. She is a functioning alcoholic, works, then drinks until she passes out. Weekends are a drinking marathon with she and hubby. She has not worked the past two weeks because of symptoms and panic attacks. I don't want to interfere in her life but I really think her physician needs to know about the drinking. I am wondering if her alcoholism is contributing to her symptoms and physical problems. Please any help will be appreciated.
You are withdrawing from the alcohol. This starts to happen over time...
Each time you drink now it will probably happen. The best thing you can do is limit how much you drink - severely. Also, if you are going to be drinking, take a B-complex vitamin before and after, drink pedialyte before and after... the minute you wake up the next morning... drink as much water and pedialyte as you comfortably can. Don't eat until you do not have a fever... or you will throw up.
Your friends probably have Alcohol flush reaction, especially if they are of Asian decent.

(based on what I'm reading, it could make your face feel hot like you have a fever)
Misshappfaery, you may have some sort of allergic reaction. There's other things than just alcohol you may be allergic to.
I was told by my doctor that drinking alcohol does lower your immune system and can make you more succeptible to getting sick. However, what you are describing is an immediate reaction. I have several friends that get really red cheeks when they drink. They have told me that they are semi-allergic to alcohol, yet they continue to drink anyway. I don't know what their condition is called. How long do your symptoms last? I would say you should definitely speak to your doctor, especially if the same thing has happened a few times.
