Allergic to titanium?

Allergic to titanium? I have had three knee replacements, one a cement/antibiotic one. I am in constant pain and my leg has red spots on the aria of the knee replacement and is always wormer then the other leg. Now I have developed a severe allergy in my sinus, with the tubes plug and water on one ear. No one can tell me what I am allergic to. I read many people having the idea of allergies to titanium and I have read that the medical community say it not possible. The last two night I have had a temperature of 101, that comes and goes.
my meds are:
Mometasone Furoate 50 mcg 120d nasal
Loratadine 10mg
Rifampin 300 mg cap
my Gatofloxacin was discontinued by the VA
replaced with ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day.
Are you sure that there are no allergies to knee replacements  jeff graham

There is another community on this website (medhelp) called titanium/ vanadium/ aluminum/dental implant.  This may also help in finding answers for anyone here.

Gunter,

The reason he removed the disc was, if I remember correctly was she was allergic to the disc.  I heard this story when I had my metal in me, so I am not positive on all the details.  The doctor's name who removed the disc (and also did my surgery) is Dr. Rob Parrish.  He is a neurosurgeon and is located in Houston, Texas.  This is his contact information.  Sometimes the contact info will not come through here and if it doesn't, let me know and I will rewrite it so that it does.

6560 Fannin St Suite 1506
Houston, TX 77030
(713) 441-3800 (Office)
(713) 796-8515 (Fax)

Your English is fabulous, plus here in Houston we have lots of people from all over the world, so do not worry about that.  I hope you find some help, I know first hand the misery you live in and no one should live like that.  Please let me know if I can help you any more.

Dear Suzie,

thank you once again for your honest answer.
You do a great job for me and for the other people her on this website which are in need for help.
It sounds strange, but including your experiences with suspenseful films I have the same problems that you had (apart from skin reactions).
And so there is only one question left: Do you know why the surgeon had to put out the disc?
I know about some re-operations because the surgeons had put in the wrong size (the artificial disc is available in different sizes).
So the patients had right away incredible pain.
And furthermore I know about eleven disc removals world wide because of heavy skin problems caused by the artificial disc. All the patients had hives.
About those who survived the explantation I was told the hives had gone away immediately.
I was looking for a surgeon in Germany but I found only one who is willing to put the artificial disc out. It´s a risky operation.
So please tell me the name of the surgeon who had put the disc already out and if possible tell me why he had to do this.

Many thanks from Bavaria/Germany, Günter

he didn't tell you about the nickle they put it for hardening. I was told the same thing, I went to a new spine doctor and he came in told me there was nickle in it I explained I was told it did not, he said it was a small percentage.
