Reaction to Doxycycline

Hi have been on Doxycycline for a suspected urinary tract infection for 7 days(2 x 100mg daily)and have nearly finished the course. My glands in my neck though have seemed to have swollen slightly. I was wondering if this could be caused by the antibiotic?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Swollen lymph nodes ,also called lymphadenopathy is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Other causes include allergic reactions, arthritis, cancer, metabolic diseases, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).

Swollen lymph nodes with no other symptom of an allergic reaction are rare but possible. What exactly has caused the lymph nodes to swell can be judged only by clinical examination and investigations like allergy testing to doxycycline,FNAC lymph nodes etc.

I sincerely advise you to consult a physician and get this evaluated. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

It could be an interaction with something you ate and the medicine as well. it is always safe to call your doctor and inform them because they can get serious.

Just thought I would add. I am also asthmatic, not sure if this would explain anything. The reaction isn't painful at all, just want to know if it can be a reaction for some people.
