Aneurysm and anhidrosis

My aneurysm rupted in August 2010. After two surgeries and recovery at home I have very few symptoms left. I still have incredible weakness and unsteadiness, which I am learning to live with. But the most troubling thing is anhidrosis. I do not sweat, not at all. I overheat easily but still no sweat. Sometimes I will even feel like I am clammy, but when I touch my skin there absolutely no moisture there. I did not have this problem before the aneurysm, in fact the opposite was quite the norm. My question is, could the aneurysm have cuased this? Is perhaps the sympathetic nervous system has malfunctioned as a result of the aneurysm? And if any of these are true, is there anything that can be done? Thank you.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I did have surgery. I have a shunt with a catheter than runs down the back of the ear just under the skin and down into the neck and on into the body cavity somewhere. The shunt sits right above the right eye about an inch from the hairline. The hypothalmus. No that's not an option that's even been mentioned. I will definitely mention this to my doctor. I'm not complaining, mind you. I am so thankful to just be alive that if I have to live with this the rest of my life, then so be it. At least I'm here. But Alabama summers can be so HOT!

Janice,

You didn't indicate if you had surgery to clip or coil the aneurysm.  That info would be helpful as well as the location.  The rupture could have affected the hypothalamus which helps regulate body temp.  The weakness and unsteadiness is not unusual given the seriousness of your surgery.  My wife still has these symptoms 17 years after her clipping surgery.  Have you tried Physical Therapy after the surgery?
