Just informed I have an intercranial aneurysm

Dear Aneurysm Forum,

I had an MRI of my brain yesterday with and without contrast.  I was called today and was told that I had an intercranial aneurysm.

I am to show up tomorrow to have another MRI, but this one is called an MRA?  Does anyone out there know what this actually means.  I mean besides the fact that I could most likely have a stroke at any point in time.

What I'm curious about, besides all of this is; are there medicines I can take, or do they always have to operate on the brain to alleviate this problem.

I would appreciate so much any help anyone out there can give me.

Thank you so very much!

Dear Eddie 1994,

Thank you very much for answering my post.  I thought nobody was out there.

I realize that this is most likely quite serious.  I live in Houston, TX which gives me a boost up on good to great physcians to choose from.  So I realize I'm very lucky to live in Houston.

I was just hoping against hope that they could give me medicine instead of doing any operations.  This is probably silly of me, but hey, who wants to have an operation at all if there are any other choices available.

I won't know what the MRA showed until tomorrow, Monday, because I had it done on Friday.

I will certainly look up your posts Eddie, for I need all the informaton and help I can get right now.

I'd love to tell you I'm not worried, and actually, I not so much worried as I am terrified!!

Thanks again for your reply.

Best Wishes,

Suda

Suda,

I think only your Doctor can answer your question.  A Aneurysm, especially in the brain, is not something you want to think about or treat conservatively.  Most likely you will be referred to a Neurosurgeon for evaluation and staging.  You don't indicate what region you live in.  Since you may not have an immediate emergency, you want to make sure that that you start covering all of your bases.  This forum contains lots of useful information by various individuals - some are Medical personnel and many of us have lived through the experience in someway.

For my part please look for my post name Eddie1994 in this forum for I have addressed a few questions and issues you really need to consider.  Again, this is a condition you need to stay on top of.  I wish you good luck and feel free to ask any additional questions here.
