pancreatitis questions and diet

i have been diagnosed with Pancreatitis.  Wondering if I can eat fat free cottage cheese or are all dairy off limits.  Also yogurt is mentioned but seems like too much sugar, is it okay as well.  I have been getting sharp pains after eating a small meal of oatmeal and tuna, is that normal? thanks in advance

Hey, Eddie... thanks for the tip but didnt work for me.  I have been diagnosed now with Pancreatitis and it is painful, Lortab and ofcourse the morphine helped the pain.  I am new to this site and hit the wrong area accidentally, i am in the Gastro forum now.. Thanks

If I understand the anatomy correctly, the pancreas share the duct with the gallbladder.  This might explain the pain you feel.  I've had the pain you describe but diagnostic test could not ID a precise cause so it was determined to be intermitent.  One method I used to ease the pain was as follows:  place your fingertips under the lowest point of the right rib cage and press up and in and hold it for about 5-10 seconds.  I'm not sure why this works for me, but give it try and see if it helps you.

Also for more info you may want to to look at the Gastroenterology forum.
