Severe shortness of breath?

I'll make this quick but also just so you can understand what's happening:

I'm 16, my lungs are healthy according to my doctor, and time and time again i've been told i have anxiety. I don't know how to shake the feeling of constantly needing to take a deep breath. Is it anxiety? It gets so severe that it's as if somebody had taken their hand and covered my nose and mouth as if i can't breathe. It gets worse during the summer. I've tried every breathing technique there is but nothing is seeming to get better. I have some OCD issues, which could've contribute. The thing is, i'm at school now and i don't know how to handle it. I always run out of the classroom. :(

Should i try nerve tonic pills? HELP.

One way to know if you're feeling anxious is, are you feeling anxious?  Are you worrying over things, are you scared of things in an irrational fashion, are anxious thoughts taking over a larger portion of your thinking.  I'm assuming you're running out of the classroom says you're anxious.  If the doctor says your lungs are fine, if you're not feeling any congestion, then it might very well be anxiety.  It might be time to consult a psychologist to help you figure this out, but a good question to ask yourself is, when this first started, was there something new going on that might have affected you deeply?

I doubt that whatever the "nerve tonics pills" claim to do will happen. You can't just clear up nerve problems with an OTC pill imo, but if you have some spare money it might be worth a try especially if you can't sleep, because you might get a placebo effect to deal with the anxiety. It sounds weird, but even if you know it doesn't work, you might be able to tell yourself it is and get some relief - sort of like calming yourself down by breathing techniques.

Anxiety for some people is relieved if they stop worrying so a placebo might help. I would ask the pharmacist for advice first though as it claims to add phosphates so you want to make sure that won't be harmful to you. Also OTC manufacturers can put just about any claim they want on the package, so you should ask the pharmacist about that.

But paxiled had the best advice, which was to see if you can figure what is causing your issue and consult a psychologist.
I didn't see the part about nerve pills.  What pills are you talking about?
You can google them where I saw that Wal-Mart sells them. Usually these types of companies take one scientific fact and extrapolate that into a simplified scenario to market their self-proclaimed cures. However if someone could get a placebo effect from believing it works, then it might be as effective as a benzo - or even an SSRI if you believe some studies of their efficacy.
It can be a tough world for SOME anxiety and depression sufferers because we live in the stone age of figuring this out.
