Advice Needed

Hi all, I have been dealing with anxiety all my life and was reading some post on here about vitamin supplements that help with anxiety symptoms. I have read that magnesium and vitamin d complex are good choices, Can anyone give me some insight on these ? Have you tried them ? Did they work for you ? How do I know what milligrams to take as there are so many to choose from ? Are there any side effects ? I know this is alot of questions but i'm at my wits end and in need of some support. My dr has prescribed me Lexapro and i'm too afraid to start taking it, worried it will make me feel weird and send me into a panic attack, sounds silly huh ? Well any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, God Bless.

Thank you so much for the input, speaking to the pharmicist is a great idea and i will surely do that when i go to purchase my supplements. I dont have a costco where i live but i'll be sure to have the pharmicist give me some insight on the best choices. I hope your hubby is doing well and you also. I know from experience with my own hubby anxiety can affect the whole family and kinda makes it hard on everyone we are close too. Well for me anyway. Thanks again for your encouraging words.
God Bless and Best Wishes to you's too :-).

Just wanted to clarify that I meant to type "Costco" in my previous post. However, I am not trying to promote any particular brand of supplements or the taking of supplements for that matter.

Also, l had intended to not only mention, but emphasize, how exercise (especially brisk outdoor walks for my husband and me) truly seems to help reduce anxiety. Exercising apparently raises the output of endorphins which are often described as "feel-good" brain chemicals. Plus it will help you sleep better.

Best wishes!

I'm very sorry that you're struggling with anxiety. My husband, who is 42, started having anxiety and panic attacks out of the blue a few years ago. He takes a high potency Vitamin B Complex made by Origin that I got at Target. (By the way, I saw a report where Coscto's brand of supplements - Kirkland- received outstanding reviews for quality.) But honestly, it just seems like Zoloft is what helps him the most. I say this because whenever he stops taking it (under the guidance of his doctor), he will start feeling tinges of anxiety a few days later. Inevitably, he starts taking it again and then feels better. His doctor is adamant that Zoloft does not have any adverse effects from long-term use and that he should take it as long as he needs to. But my husband's goal is to be medicine-free.

I would suggest that when you go to the store for your supplements, pick out what you have heard is helpful, and then before you buy them request a consultation with the pharmacist and let him/her see your choices and the amounts. Make sure the pharmacist knows everything else you are taking. I have found that pharmacists (my dad is one) are usually very understanding of our concerns are more than happy to help.

I'm sorry I don't have more knowledge to address your specific questions, but I wanted you to know that someone out there cares and hopes you find relief SOON!

God Bless You, too!
