Alcohol and Anxiety

Ive been thinking about this issue about how alcohol and anxiety relate to each other, i mean i know alcohol is a depressant, but why is that i dont get so depressed the day after drinking, the question is,however,is that, can i STILL get"withdrawal" after 5 days of drinking? Is there a medical issue like chronic depression/anxiety?Isnt it like bipolar?
u.i Caffeine makes me very anxious,...is  there any idea WHY?

Alcohol is an effective anti-anxiety medication.

That being said, it is also toxic and destroys brain cells.
