All this due to Anxiety? BullS***

Started having 'tingling/shooting sensations' throughout my body a few days ago. The first time it lasted about 3 hours (started in my face/cheeks, and went to my arm, leg, foot, etc).(best I can describe it) a little nauseousness and a headache. I called an advice nurse last night and she said it could be numerous things but if it kept happening to go get Psychical..? Well, I keeps happening so I went to the Urgent Care a little while ago and they did an EKG and took my vitals and said all of my symptoms are due to anxiety. I find it so hard to believe. I also smoke cigarettes and read on one of the topics on here that the tingling could be due to this too. I accept that I have anxiety and that I smoke cigarettes (obviously) but I have a hard to believing that ANXIETY ALONE is causing this constant tingling/shooting sensations! And also I have it more when I am inside and it stops/decreasing A LOT when I am outside...Any advice would help.

Thank you for your time

Could tightness and a 'warming' sensation in the chest be anxiety as well?

No, They only did vitals and an ekg. I had labs done a few months ago and everything was normal. I was disappointed that they didn't do more. I do not have a local doctor or health ins. and the low cost places have months of waiting lines. But what I was saying indoors vs outdoors is. I can be doing nothing outdoors but just sitting there and it doesn't happen. It only happens indoors and in my Apartment. Which is kind of weird. I do not know if it is a mind thing..or if there is something in my apartment..I don't know I feel crazy and it is scary. And I just want it to stop. I don't want to have to live with all of these obsurd sensations.

I wasn't knocking you either, actually commending you.  I wish that a good cry and a good listener would help me.  No worries....  :)))

hey i aint knocking anyone for the way they handle their anxiety,it is up to the individual person i dont think any less of anyone who takes meds honest,i am just a freak when it comes to any meds,it is funny its because i got 2 children i dont take them, but only because a friend of mine was worse taking them,i did know that 1 in 3 do take meds and i understand that if something is broke it do need fixing but i dont and i mean me personally dont think it always needs meds, sometimes we just needs a good old cry and an ear to listen too.,anyway just to say i aint knocking you and if it works for you then great,i aint strong i just have choices and i make them just like you,but if you ever need to talk i am always here, again just want to make a strong point that anyone on meds do not in the least make them a weak person.

Good for you for being so strong and have the willpower not to medicate.  Unfort. some of us desperately need meds and I believe if they help ALONG with therapy, then there is nothing wrong with it.  I am a mother of 2 younger children and need to function as normally as possible on a daily basis and not suffer.
I commend you for your choice and hope that dealing w/ things head on works.

Do you know that 1 in 3 people are on meds for some sort of disorder.
If your arm is broken, you see a doctor and fix it.  If your car is broken, you bring it in and fix it.  If our brains/chemicals are off, then we fix them...again, whether that be with or without medicine ALONG with therapy.

Hiya, when you are out do you find that you are more distracted with what is going on around you and interacting with the outside world?  Do you find that when your in doors you have more time to think, are less distracted and therefore have more time to focus on the physical sensations in your body?  When we are occupied with other thoughts, actions etc we tend to relax and forget about what is going on within ourselves, so it may be purely anxiety related.  Have you been under extra stress lately?

Also when you went to the ER did they do blood tests, Urine tests?  Like checking ur Thyroid, Electrolyte levels, blood gases, Liver function, Kidney function, etc.... cause only doing a EKG and taking vitals does not rule out a whole host of other conditions.  All this tells the doctor is that you are stable and not about to drop dead of a heart attack.  You need to go back to your local doc and ask for blood tests just to make sure.

I'm still figuring out how to use this site, I meant my answer/question for Amanda.
But I must ask, why won't you take antidepressants?  They have been a savior in my life.

I, too, suffer anxiety and I get tingling in my shoulders, down my arms and to my fingertips.  Very scary, I know.
Yes, the anxiety tends to slow down when we are outside or busy, our minds are occupied, but when we're inside, we do have all the time to think about it.
Did the Urgent Care prescribe you anything?

well believe those who tell you that it is caused by anxiety, those sypmtoms and more happen with it,the reason for it happening more indoors is due to you propabaly slowing down and has more time to think about it
