I also have panic attacks. I know it's not easy, but please try not to be so hard on yourself. You are not bringing everyone down, and if they make you feel that way then you probably shouldn't be around them anyway! The best thing you can do for your friends & family is to try to educate them so that they have some kind of understanding of what you are going through and that it is not anything that you have done wrong to cause this. I am confident that you can try to control your breathing. Focus on breathing through your abdiman vs. your chest and just take slow & even breaths not necassarily deep breaths. In through your nose (in-2-3) and out through your mouth (out-2-3). It may feel like you are not getting enough air at first but within minutes you should start to feel better. You can even breath into your hands if that makes you feel better. I am having the same breathing issue now and this has helped. Hang in there, you are not alone :)
Listen brother!!!!
I am 22. Im an active, healthy and fit college kid w/ a job! All I did was party and go to the beach! I had a bad expierence that freaked me out. I basically lost it and started to suffer from anxiety, panic attacks and depression. Very random. I had every sympton known to man. Went to the ER. Had 3 EKG's, been to 2 eye doctors, blood work, CAT scan, **** tests.. nothing. I was obsessed. I started taking zoloft and within 3 weeks, every sympton I had vanished. I have never had a panic attack since the first day of zoloft. I get side effects sometimes but I dont sweat them.
I would be like you were I had those thoughts man. I have no thoughts about any of that BS anymore. I am also in therapy which my therapist is great.
I am back to partying and being normal agian.
I couldnt even drink a beer without my pulse rising and now I dont even think about it or notice it.
I use to check my pulse every 2 minutes it was crazy man. And it was always like 76-80. Like the 3rd day after zoloft, I never checked agian. Every now and then I do and itll be like 58-62 like how it should be for my fitness!
Goodluck. Your not alone.
You should make an appointment with a psychiatrist. You symptoms do sound like anxiety and depression. This could very well have been set off by your accident and the psych will go thru your physical condition and medical history and help you to get thru what you are experiencing now. With proper treatment you can get back to your usual self in no time.
Accept those feelings and let time pass, you will see that those sensations, palpitations etc will ease off in times, its the thing that you want to fight off those feelings make those symptoms worse,u try to control ur breathing and u will ended up hyperventilation as a result of trying to take more and more deep breathes as you feel that you have difficulty breathing.
