Anxiety/Fast heatbeat

Anxiety runs in my family and since about June of 2011 iv'e been having panic attacks. right away I thought it was my heart. now im so upsessed with my heart beat i feel it almost all the time throughout the day. now lately my heart has been racing when I get all worked up. like today I tried going to school soon as i got out of my car it started racing and i freaked myself out and left immediately. once i sat in my car i started to relax. anxiety is runing my life. i  have been to the hospital twice took tests and 2 EKG's and nothing is wrong. I just cant get it out of my head somethings wrong with me. any little pain i get i think im dying. like if i get a pain in my side, head, chest. It's ruining everything. im currently seeing a psychiatrist.

The pills won't affect your heart.  You don't want this anxiety to cause you to miss a moment of your girlfriend or your life.  Decide today to take your life back and no longer be held hostage by anxiety!  I know it's easier said than done, but I don't want you to wake up an old man one day and wonder where the years went....you will have worried them away.  You can do this!  Best wishes.

Thank you, I really appreciate what you wrote. I called the psychiatrist and am meeting with him first thing tuesday and brought up possible medication. My fear is taking a pill that will effect my heart. Thats all my anxiety is even though I had x-rays egks blood tests etc.. I just can't get over it. Its quite traumatizing. I have a girlfriend of 3 years and I'm just scared of dying and never being able to live my life with her

CBT therapy would greatly benefit you.  Understand that all your worries and fears are fueling this anxiety and keeping it going strong.  You're healthy...try to dwell on this.  Feeling your heart rate go up when stressed is a clear sign that this is all anxiety.  You're on the right track with the psychiatrist so stay the course, but you may want to discuss medication to help you get thru this difficult time...depending on your age.  I know it's scary and frustrating but you'll get beyond this and will get your life back. When you feel your heart rate speeding up, do deep breathing exercises....breathe slowly in thru your nose and slowly out of your mouth. This will help relax you. All of us who have suffered with anxiety can relate to what you're going thru, so know you're not alone and there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Even talking with us can help, so feel free to share or just vent....we're always here for you!
