Faint and dizziness.

I am an 18 year old female, I am a vegetarian and for the past year I have felt faint every now and then and I get fidgety and can't sit still in case I faint. Over the past few days I have had awful dizziness and the room spinning and getting hot sweats and my head suddenly feels heavy and I come over feeling sick. I am getting quite worried and I don't know what it could be. Any help would be great thankyou.

Great! Make sure to tell them you're a vegetarian so they will know what to check for. Don't forget about asking them to do a blood sugar test. You may need to fast before your appointment. You can call and ask first.

I'm a vegetarian too. You have to make sure you're getting enough protein and B vitamins. Nursegirl gave you great advice.  See you Dr to have some testing done. You may be low on vitamins and minerals your body needs. I would also ask to have your blood sugar tested. If it drops too low you have the symptoms you're describing.

Hello and welcome!

What you describe sounds like it could very well be anxiety and/or panic attacks.  Have you had a thorough physical lately, including blood work?  That should be your first step, to rule out any kind of medical condition (ie anemia, thyroid disorders, etc) that could be causing these symptoms.  Sometimes vegans don't get enough iron from the lack of eating red meat, that can cause iron-deficiency anemia.  You could also can have pernicious anemia.  Both of those conditions are easily remedied by adding supplements.

Once a medical condition is ruled out, your next step would be to ask for a referral to a psychiatrist, who can thoroughly assess you, and find out if you may be dealing with an anxiety disorder, like panic disorder, GAD, etc.  He/she will then discuss treatment options with you.

Please let us know how you're doing, and what the doc says!  Good luck!
