Anxiety relapse, is worse the second time?

So I have (med free) gotten through major anxiety and panic attacks and lived a decent life for almost 10 years (first attack 2007) until recently. A health scare started the panic and anxiety all over again. This time the symptoms are different and I feel like I am struggling way more than the first time to even start back on the road to normal. Is this common when it comes back?

Hello.  Gosh, I'm sorry you are having this difficulty!  There is no set rule but have heard of the subsequent episodes after the first being a bit more severe.  I think it can happen but not for everyone.  I'm sorry that it IS happening for you.  It's terrific that you've had 10 years free from the beast of anxiety and panic.  Once you get the health scare in order, then I'd go back to working on the anxiety/panic.  What did you do the first time around?  It worked (and for 10 years!)---  I'd repeat what you did to see if you can generate the same effect.  good luck

I'm curious, who said subsequent episodes are worse? If that is the case then it seems that no one could ever recover after a few more episodes because they would be intensifying the problem.

There is no chronological based pattern because it is dependent on the many things that can cause panic for those susceptible. Have you identified anything causing it now and ever had therapy to deal with it before?

This one started after a health scare which has pretty much been dealt with but the daily  and multiple attacks continue.....First time, I did some CBT which helped a little, I made major changes in diet and began working out.

Not really sure at what point but they just got less and less until I was "normal"  again.

They physical and emotional symptoms are different this time. maybe because I'm older but the road out looks so hard this time.

I guess I'm doubting if I can do it again...
