Anxiety

Does anxiety really cause chest pain discomfort and sort like a sore stiff feeling in chest and I feel it a lot when I move around and especially when I get up in the morning thats when it's the worse.  It's  kinda like someone has beat me up in the chest or like I over exercised that's what the pain feel like

I too have severe anxiety and mine started when my mom had a stroke back in march. She is a young person in 42 and a stroke came from no where they cant even justify why is happened other than smoking and stress. This has petrified me so badly that I now feel like I am dying of a heart attack or stroke or feel like I am at risk for a pulmonary embolism.:: I just had a baby a month and a half ago and my doctor kept telling me it was bc my body had been through two traumatic events and that it was post traumatic stress disorder! The chest pains are scary and it get worse when i think about it I have had an EKG in the past and came back fine also a ct scan and an MRI of the brain everything was normal not to mention I also felt like a pin cushion bc of the amounts of blood I had drawn and going through labor and delivery something has to subside this feeling and kick the thoughts I am currently taking 50 mg of Zoloft but I think Xanax would help when the sudden attacks occur my doctor is a stickler about giving it out bc ppl have widely abused it and now it's hard for the ppl who actually need it to get it... It's pretty ridiculous.. I have also had a terrible pain in my left shoulder and arm which also scared me to death... And they are saying its tendinitis I'm going in for further testin a piece of mind would be great

It is very important that you get yourself looked at by the doctor, chest pain always needs to be investigated and if nothing more it will put your mind at rest to know the situation is being sorted out.

Anxiety does cause chest pain and the soreness may be from overly tense chest muscles, making it painful when u move but again you will only know for sure if you have a consult and examination.

In the mean time you could try some meditation, relaxation deep breathing exercises to help.  You tube or google and u will find loads of hepful information.

Chest pain is very common with anxiety, that is not to say it HAS to be anxiety but it can be - go to the doc get it checked out - once he says your OK then u can realize that chest pain is just another manifestation of anxiety.  I suggest you check out this site with tons of stories about chest pain and anxiety... http://www.**********.com/recent-chest

Hi Tiesha,

Yes, it can. Chest pain was what finally got me off my butt to go get diagnosed. Anxiety will manifest itself in whatever way it will, and seems like it will get more dramatic until you take notice.
If you're getting discomfort in your chest, best thing you can do is check with your doc- it takes 5 minutes for an EKG, they do it right in the exam room, and it's not expensive. Finding out my heart was fine actually stopped the chest pain for me.
You could have gas, arthritis, heartburn or any number of tings causing chest pain, but if you're an anxious person to begin with, check in with your doc- it can't hurt, and you'll feel better afterwards. Cheap at the cost.

The type of soreness you are describing sounds more like its related to arthritis or something like costochondritis, not anxiety. Obviously I am not a doctor, but generally if you can move around and make it happen or make it stop its not heart related. Its possible you just have a touch of a bug also.
